Hi I’m struggling to find a table for my p2s combo to sit on it wood have to be freestanding. I don’t want a big and nothing to expensive any ideas wood be great what are you all using.
I use to make fun of people not having an serious platform for a 3d printer. Seeing the test on a rock solid table and a not so solid one changed my mind. How about this? Yes it is true that the print quality is similar on a rigid vs flimsy table, or even with the printer suspended in the air. However, a P2S with a loaded AMS is over 20 kilos and tall, and that assumes it’s not combined with a cabinet for filament storage etc. The vibration from that weight is going to cause problems for a light weight table over time.
My recommendation would be to purchase a slimline kitchen cabinet, and put wheels on the bottom instead of the legs, and a worktop on the top (or just get a wheeled kitchen island). You will get a sturdy table with cupboard for filament, a drawer for tools etc. You can configure them how you want regarding size and cupboard/drawer combos.
Something like this should fit a P2S at 450x450.
You can print door handles, and a grab handle to push it around.
You will need to buy some wood for a worktop, 4 wheels, the hinges, the door, and drawer box and fronts if you want a drawer. Drawer boxes are expensive; if price is a problem get just the cupboard instead. I personally would go for 1 drawer, and a cupboard beneath.
EDIT I would also put a piece of plywood UNDER the base, because kitchen units are supposed to be fixed to a wall, so you need some additional rigidity.
