As part of the upgrade from H2D > H2C one has to upload the old H2D serial, and activate the new H2C AP Board serial in order to unlock full functionality, otherwise you are unable to login and bind your account etc.
Where does that leave the H2D parts that have been removed? Are they now completely unusable (well, the AP Board anyways) since the serial has been deactivated?
For those looking to upgrade, what to do with the removed H2D parts?
In my opinion, someone with an H2S could use it to make an H2D out of it.
But no idea, what Bambu does with the AP board.
If they are willing to reactivate it again.
I am curious about Bambu’s approach. I would gladly buy a pack for H2d for my H2S… the question is how Bambu will react to it… with their parts registration policy, it could be tricky… although these are fully functional parts and could be given new life in other printers.
I think if the only option turns out to throw them, it might backlash to them , given how most people will feel bad with being told “yeah your other parts are useless now, garbage”
Wait until April when the one year warranties starts to expires on the first H2Ds shipped. New the tool head is $600, Heat bed is $160, AP board is $170. Like it was said, the AP are questionable with the Bambu registration. However, seems like you could get 50% of the new price for the tool head and heat bed for $300-$400 on Ebay or Facebook Market Place. On FB I saw a photo of a guy who had a blob and someone told them to use a heat gun to help remove the blob. The guy proceeded to melt the entire front of the tool head with the heat gun. He would be a prime potential buyer. LOL
so the print head only at full price costs the same as 3 years of home weather insurance (without deposit). doable. hope it rains. 
Even if BL does not reactive it, it will still be a H2D if used in LAN Only mode, there must be some value in the parts because some of us exclusively use their printers in LAN only mode anyway.
I had to replace the AP board on my P1S because I broke the SD slot. I have since replaced that slot and although I cannot bind this board, I can still use my printer with the old board in LAN only mode, no issue.
When you buy a brand new AP board, it only has a piece of firmware installed and cannot be used unless it’s activated and then you can download the current firmware but with a used AP board, a firmware is already installed and you can still upgrade it offline now so a H2S upgraded to H2D with used parts should work fine in LAN OM.
It shouldn’t take long before someone tries it now that some upgrade kits got delivered
Man I bet there’s gonna be some unhappy people when it comes to warranty claims after all these upgrades across the globe!
Or are bambu offering some kind of additional / extended warranty with the upgrade?
So in essence one could still resell the heatbed, steel sheet, and the toolhead with its linear rail - since they would all be reusable - its just the AP board thats deactivated?..
You get a years warranty with all the upgrade parts.
I don’t know about the AP board, but all the other parts could be as for repairs for other printers.
