My original build plate (2 years old) has lost most of its adhesion. I have have washed and washed but it is just worn out. I am looking for ideas of how I can repurpose this old plate instead of putting it in the trash. Any ideas?
Depends on the plate, if it’s a sticker you can attach a new one. PEI, rivet it to the car floor to cover a hole.

Textured PEI can be lightly sanded with 600 grit sandpaper to get adhesion back. Smooth plates IIRC can be sanded too (don’t know the grit)

Have you tried this yourself, and if you did, did it work, or is it from a 3rd party hearsay?

I did sand mine but not because it needed it, i wanted to remove that pesky ghosting of previous prints that I couldn’t get rid off. Adhesion is still good, haven’t noticed a difference yet. So it didn’t go south
I will give that a try, since I have nothing to lose. It is a textured plate with noticeably less texture than new.

Start building an iron man suit with real structural elements so when you go down the shops you can feel, yeah, even I can’t finish my dumb suggestion.

How often did you wash it? I have this theory (unproven 
) that too much washing can wear down the plate faster. My two original black PEI textured plates that came with the printers are still going strong. So far they have been washed exactly once (sometime in 2024 or 2025, can’t remember now).
I wash them when I notice a reduction in adhesion or after using glue and won’t be using glue for the next print.
