My filament was tangled on the filament spool in the AMS causing me to cancelled the print. The print was very short so the filament in the tube would complete the job so I cut the filament at the feed point of the AMS and made the print. As the print finished I could see the filament had moved out of the AMS with a good portion remaining in the tube. So, now there was filament remaining in the tube all the way to the hotend.
I thought by manually cutting the filament at the hotend (see attached) I could disconnect the PTFE tube and slide the remaining filament out. Wrong! In the attached photo you can see I needed to cut the filament to do that.
So, at the moment there is a short section of filament cut in two; half remaining in the hotend and the other half from the extruder up. How best to fix this?
I was thinking I could heat up the hotend and do a manual purge, flushing the filament in the hotend and using the extruder to feed the rest through as well. Will that work or does anyone have a better suggestion?
