I have a couple thousand sheets of blank printer paper that I sketch ideas out onto. The better Ideas either go into a file folder, or get recreated in goodnotes on my ipad.
If i am at work on a jobsite I will usually send a no context text to my wife.
Then it goes to Fusion where I will make a bunch of rapid iterations as quickly as I can get a prototype of the printers. My recent product that I am happy with probably took 10+ prototypes.
This guy ripped off my calibration scraper cad after it reached popularity with three models all the same, I reported him dozens of times, and they removed two of them because they didn’t have photos but left the third because it did; it’s my cad, stretched and rotated - flaws and all, and he refused to list it as a remix nor credit me. Glad to see he’s such an upstanding citizen still.
I recently found this old, but free and open source program called TreeSheets which I have been loving for mind maps, goals, lists, and habit tracking.

Aaaaany way…
My design “process” is similar to Rossero’s. Only additions are:
a google docs text file named “ideas”
random post-it notes with sketches drawn using pen
several tabs of random tutorials on how to deal with particular snag
couple grams of test prints for some random part that i wonder whether it’ll work or not
Generally once the item’s printed however I take very little time between the item being still on the hotplate and publishing it (allowing of course for better light if required, photo processing etc)
Wow, this looks crazy, but at the same time not that crazy… And it’s cross-platform and isn’t yet another chrome instance having js “app” in it. Thanks for sharing that!
My process: I think of a cool idea, and I start modelling it
Not surpised at all the heavy project management & tracking tools used here. Some of your models are so intricate and complex i’m sure its very hard without. But as someone whose day job involves a lot of this, it’s the last thing I want to do in my spare time.
Not mine I just have too many projects going on at once. I’ve got a folder on my desktop with a subfolder for each design. I’ve also got a folder for in-progress designs. Designs that I have files for, but they’re not posted/completed. It’s currently at 13 in-progress designs. One of which is a bit complex, but that’s besides the point lol
