After contact with Bambu, i made the choice for bambu h2d 40w, with the note that you could buy the lose head 10w later. The indication was en june. I’m still waiting after checking a hunderd times.
Does anybody know when the lose laser heads are going to be available?
May I ask why you are considering the 10W laser when you already have the 40W version? If your intention is fine engraving, I would recommend a standalone laser instead. I own the 40W model myself and can’t think of a situation where I would need the 10W. Additionally, I have a 5W laser on my Desktop CNC, which is only suitable for image burning and for creating the silk screen markings on my PCBs to indicate where components should be placed.
Regarding the topic, from what I’ve heard, this is unlikely to happen anytime soon, as Bambu Lab does not appear to be manufacturing the laser themselves.
I’ve done many small engravings with my 40W laser, but I don’t own a 10W Bambu Lab laser, so I can’t make a direct comparison just yet.
If your main goal was to use the laser for engraving images, the 10W would have been the better choice from the start, and you could have upgraded to the 40W when it becomes available.
I know they offer an advanced replacement for the 40W laser module for €1300 if it’s broken, but I’m not sure if standalone 10W lasers will be available for purchase in the near future.
I want to do both and went for the big investment first, also depending on the feedback from the help desk, they ensured it was going to be available. Expectaion was then end of June. It would also increase my workspace, as the build plate is samll, for a laser burner. On the other hand it is very good machine and very easy in use, which gave me the opertuity to start designing in Lightburn and adjusting exciting models.
Contact BL reminding about the ealier compromise.
You are likely to get it sooner at the store or maybe a private sale so you can get it, or at least some info about the new date.
