my model is stuck onto the plate and I can’t adjust the Z height. It keeps snapping back down to the plate. I read that I have to merge a primitive object with my model so it can be moved in the Z. I have a cube, but I can’t find a merge..
Hi, I think what you want to do is add the primitive (cube) as a part to the object you want to elevate, not as a separate (new) object. In Prepare mode, right-click on “screen box and front” object (in the tree or on the plate) and select “Add part → …” from the menu. It then becomes a “part” of the main object and you can move other “parts” of that parent object around w/out them being constrained to the plate, as long as the cube is touching the plate.
At that point you could also select both parts of the object and “Merge into single part” from the context menu. I’m not sure if that has any benefit in your case or not.
If you want to “permanently” combine the cube with the main object, another option would be a “mesh boolean” operation (on the top toolbar), but I’m guessing that’s not what you’re after.

Just to add to what was said above. If you right click the model and add a primitive then the primitive is already merged with the model. You will see a little green plus sign next to the name.
