I’ve recently bought an H2D along with an AMS2 and an AMS HT.
At the moment, I’ve arbitrarily connected the HT to the left nozzle and the AMS2 to the right nozzle. Is there any good reason why it would be better to do it either this way or the opposite?
I’ve got a vague feeling that I read somewhere that some filaments (PVA perhaps?) should be fed through the right (I think) nozzle as it doesn’t move up and down but I can’t find the reference to that. If that memory is correct then it would perhaps make more sense to have the HT on the right nozzle but I guess the disadvantage is that most stuff will then be printed with the moving-up-and-down left nozzle (so I can use auto-refill from the AMS2). I don’t really know whether that’s a problem or not.
Anyway, I’m just wondering if anyone has any good reasons why it should be one way round or t’other.
Your setup should work fine. If you use a material like TPU, it must be printed from the right nozzle. Most likely, it will not be AMS compatible, and you will need to disconnect whatever is fed into the right side.

A real good reason can possibly not be given, but I have the AMS2 on the left nozzle and the HT on the right nozzle.
Additionally the external spool is hooked up to the right also.
I started the other way around but have not totally clear in my head the reason for me switching it to the current configuration.
One reason I know that helps is when printing TPU on the right nozzle through external spool, I still have access to multiple materials from the AMS on the left.
I have two AMS 2 Pro units assigned to each nozzle, plus two AMS HT units on the left and one AMS HT on the right, which I use for printing TPU/PEBA.
So it depends on your workflow. In my setup, the left nozzle is primarily used for support materials, and the right nozzle handles the main build filament.
You don’t need to disconnect. Just use a 4-1 or any other adapter to have an extra entry to feed the filament.
Also, for filaments like PPA-CF, PPS-CF and others that are very brittle, the left nozzle if the preferred one. And those filaments cant go through an AMS either.
That not correct. The AMS 2 should be connected to right nozzle as suggested by bambu. That nozzles does not lift up and down, so it is the preferred one.
And as Gerrit has mentioned only TPU is to be printed from right nozzle for now, until left nozzle TPU printing comes via firmware update. All brittle filaments are to be printed from left nozzle due to the smoother filament path to reduce the chance of it breaking in the PTFE line.
For TPU you can use these two models to have the TPU bypass line always available on the right nozzle:
Thanks for all the replies. Having tried swapping them (AMS2 to left and AMS-HT to right) I can see that swapping them is relatively straightforward, so I’ll probably leave it like that for now and just swap them over if I can think of a reason to do so.
I haven’t got as far as trying TPU or anything else particularly exotic.
