So, i’m planning on getting a new printer from the p1 series, and i’m wondering if there’s any benefit to paying an extra $150 for the p1s if i don’t print with anything besides PLA.
- Yes, absolutely! 2. It has a premade ams combo or ams 2 combo. 3. If you ever decide to print with more advanced materials, you already have the printer capable of doing it! 4. It is quieter, and looks cleaner!

I just bought a P1S with the AMS2 Pro and I don’t regret it.
Like you, I only ever print one colour of easy to use filament (PLA or PETG) but if I hadn’t got the AMS then I know I would keep thinking about one.

P1S + AMS (P1S combo)
You don’t have to print multi-color to use AMS. AMS can work like an auto-refill system, auto feed new spool from differnt AMS slot that is the same color and material when current spool running out.
The other benefit of AMS is to print with different material for support interface. You will have a clean surface where support interface is used.

The big disadvantage of P1S - maximum bed temperature is 100 deg C. If you’re planning to print with PAs or ABS/ASA - it’s not really worth it. You can use glue, but this is dirty deal imo. To print PLA or PETG the P1P will be enough.

Printing ASA and PA6 in my X1C, a bed temperature of 100°C has worked well.
PC is the only filament I’ve used at 110°C, but my PC preset is based on the Bambu/Generic presets. Maybe it would have worked at 100°???
Browsing through the Bambu/Generic presets for other materials, I do not see anything other than PC using a bed temp greater than 100°.
I’ve not used ABS, but the Bambu and Generic presets for ABS specify a bed temperature of 90°C.
If the new printer is to be the only printer, I would want the extra capabilities available with an enclosure. If there is already an enclosed printer in the shop, an open printer could provide more production capacity for less cost, but then I might be looking at an A1.
If you check Bambu Lab’s site, these temperatures are for case when glue is must have. Or else corners or even whole model will unstick out of plate.
Nowadays, glue stick is more like release agent to me in stead of improving bed adhesion

If I wanted to add another printer to my lineup now, it would be another X1C or an A1. An A1 can do pretty much what a P series printer can, only slower. But everyone has their own perspectives.
I‘m printing all of this with p1s. In the moment PA66/6. The only not working material was non modified pure PC.
