So for some context I upload my models primarily to 2 sites makerworld and makeronline (anycubic competitor/alternative).
for a while now ive noticed that consistently my models do better on makeronline than makerworld, my main question is why? for example my most recent fidget toy design has over 500 downloads on makeronline yet only 2 downloads here. Im fully open to feedback and would love to know if theres a specific style of cover image/ description which is better for makerworld as currently im at a loss.
My guess is this is a result of the difference of the amount of models on each site. I don’t have numbers to back this up but I feel that Makerworld has a substantial amount more models uploaded then Makeronline. This boils down to your models getting lost in the the fray on Makerworld.
Maker Online has a lot less models meaning that there is less competition.
MW is also much better at filtering out the bot activity that plagues other platforms. I also suspect that MakerOnline includes China in their metrics while MW excludes China.
I remember when MW China launched and MW World was mirrored. I can’t remember an opt-in (or opt-out) option though back then or during my most recent uploads in March.
At the same time, I am pretty sure that particular motives (flags, particular comic characters, etc) will not be available on MW China.
