I received the H2S this past weekend, and so far it’s been incredible. I’m not mad about this outcome just confused.
I noticed something interesting when printing with Prusament Galaxy Black: the print on my P1S came out with a matte surface, while the one on the H2S turned out glossy. Both prints took the same amount of time. Had the same generic PLA profile. So I’m curious, what could cause that difference in surface finish?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The glossiness is normally effected by temperature and speed. Here’s the official Bambu info on it:
glossy means that it’s better melted. it means that at the same temperature, your nozzle is better at melting the filament, which is a good thing (because bambu extended the melting chamber for H2D series nozzles).
If you’re not happy with it, reduce the printing temperature. But matte finish = weak parts, 99 out of 100 times.
I appreciate the link, I understand the normal reasons why it would change but I think it goes deeper than that. The parts printed at the same temperature and finished in the same amount of time. (+/- a few seconds)
This. Thank you, that makes a lot of sense and I wasn’t aware of that. So in theory this is how the material “should” look when printed (glossy) if I understand this correctly.
I think that the rates in which the filament is being heated. The H2s have a more powerful heating element in comparison.
I would chalk it up to difference in machines and adjust to get your desired result.
hahaha no it’s not that it “should” look like that, it’s more like depending on what you want it to be like. Ideally, users should print the large temperature tower (a larger version of temperature tower to allow the nozzle accelerate to high speed, making it possible to show real world printing finishes) to determine the finish you would like. But that’s quite a lot of work.
I kinda like the glossy version but just wasn’t expecting that to happen. Pretty neat that it did just causes me to learn about something I’ve not had experience with. 99% of the time I’m only concerned with making sure it prints with a certain level of quality. Thanks for the info!
I like how it looks with the H2S so I for sure will keep it like that going forward but nice to know I’ll have to make the adjustments to make it look similar to the P1S if I ever do. I’ve gotten to the point in my journey where it’s a tool and I just need the thing to print, but I do enjoy learning the cause and effect factors. Thanks for the insight!
