I got a promotional email that BL is pushing some material packs for the laser.
I’ve opened a few tickets arguing with them about why none of the accessories for the laser have been released. I’ve really been unable to engrave any of the aluminum business cards that I purchased because I can’t get them to hold still just sitting on the slats.
You think they’d at least be able to put those honeycomb grid panels on their website for purchase.
They still have not released the fire extinguisher and rotary attachment. Some of these were my main reason for buying the laser.
I even asked if I could send back the laser module for a refund and they said no.
This is supposed to be my entry in the laser to see if I wanted to do it further. I’ll probably end up getting an X tool before they release all of the accessories for the H2D.
I’m confused, is it the air assist that’s causing the cards to move or something? If you put the slats close together I’m not sure how things would move. If it is air assist, have you tried turning that off for the cards?
Do what we CNC enthusiasts do — use double-sided tape to secure your workpiece to the bed. I’ve engraved numerous bottle openers this way without any issues.
The 1st and 2nd picture of your first screenshot shows how you can use the provided pins to hold down things like the business cards with the slats alone. I also would like the wider plates but they aren’t available yet and I’m not going to let that get in the way of my projects.
I hope they release them soon (including the rotary tool!), but if you have projects that need to get done, you gotta work with what is available
You are supposed to make your jigs for a lot of laser machines. Slabs or magnets won’t help either for the aluminium cards. Simply print a jig and the jig can be attached magnetically and your cards won’t move.
And if you really want to get into something like lasering, I personally would NEVER back someone who is just dipping their toe into this business - if I don’t have the patience to wait for progress myself.
hahaha you’re right. I bought it because, NO AMS COMBO VERSION WAS AVAILABLE BACK THEN IN AUSTRALIA.
But on a second thought I’m not that much regreting my bad financial choice :p, as a proper fiber laser that I always wanted is much more expansive than the H2D in a whole…
That’s an alternative clamp in those pictures that doesn’t come as standard with the laser combo.
Those clamps are shorter than the ones provided and are designed to magnetically attach to the laser bed not the sides.
The wiki gives really good info on this but I’m also frustrated the flat grills and those clamps are still not available for purchase.
Lasered some PU and then wanted to use the cutter to, cut it out. Workflow is pretty janky as the cutting tool recommends you cut it from the back - but then you can’t align it with your lasered image.
Initial laser work was with a full sheet of PU retained at the edges by the provided clamps which worked ok. Thanks to Studio making the cutting step outline a solid black shape you can’t position it on the material.
