Why is Bambu lab studio toio stupid

Why is Bambu studio too stupid from session to session, from one project to the next to know and maintain my filaments in the AMS 2 on my X2C? In my project I chose slot 4 (Green PETG) and come out to find it printing from slot 3 (White PETG) snd it’s forgotten slot 4 is loaded.

Why is it Bambu studio is too stupid to keep my my X1C Wifi connected? And when I try to connect it to my Wifi the X2C disconnects?

This is constant ongoing. Sometimes once, sometimes twice a week I go through this. If I go away from printing for a week or 2 and come back it’s a given.

NO other device on my network has this problem.

As to the PETG being forgotten, it looks like non-Bambu spools. Is it Bambu filament where there are RFID tags in the mix or are you manually setting color & type?

If you have Bambu RFID tags handy, you can tape them to the sides of a spool and the AMS should treat them like Bambu spools. My AMS (1) doesn’t forget Bambu spools or keep trying to measure/ID them on startup if I use Bambu RFID tags on other spools.

I believe there are threads here about Studio “forgetting” non-Bambu spools but not sure what the resolution may be. What I do know is using Bambu RFID tags on 3rd party filament works great — as long as the other filament prints well using Bambu settings or you don’t mind adjusting parameters.

Maybe someone else knows?

Thanks for sharing. Being new to all of this I had thought about doing the same with The RFID tags. I have been using Inslogic’s PETG Pri using Bambu settings and it’s worked great but would love for it to load up and automatically default to the settings. Already threw a bunch of the tags away but now going to save as you have shared success story. Appreciated.

Glad to help! Some caveats, though…

I had a spool of 3rd party cyan in my AMS and tagged it with white PLA since it was PLA but I didn’t have a cyan Bambu tag for its real color. Then during a print I had the white run out. The AMS saw there was another “white” PLA spool and happily swapped that in when I missed the spool running out. If you don’t have the appropriate color tag, may want to use one you don’t use much.

But it works great. Most annoying to me is any non-tagged spools get checked for remaining filament. It was on a cardboard spool and that just frays the edges. It stops that, knows how much filament is left, and if the color matches, you get good updates to the filaments that don’t require fixing the colors.

I am printing things lost in a fire while I am trying to restore my home from the same fire so whatever. I am in a hurry and Bambu slicer is not helping! I don’t have time to fix my X1C connection issue to get both printers going.

My PC went to sleep, when I woke it I imported the next part into the same project. I chose the 4th spool set a custom color to it, sliced and chose it then sent it to the printer, came back later and it’s on the third spool which luckily was PETG.

It’s not that bad. Survived it. Went backwards a bit. Added some tile work and other mods. Mostly smoke damage. 1 more week it’ll be over and done.

And once again the X1C/ Bambu has lost network connection. Nothing was turned off. everything else in my network is running fine on my router 10 feet away. Since trying to connect to the X1C my X2D has lost connection also now. I am just done. Selling the X1C, muddle along with the X2D until some other brand catches my eye. Not buying another Bambu.

Before you do that, wireless access points can support only so many devices. If you have lots of IoT things on your network, your router may be dropping connections intentionally.

One way around that is if your router has a guest network. That can sometimes get around the congestion on the primary network.

Also, there are changes additions to wireless network firmware that fix bugs. Sometimes just upgrading firmware on your router fixes things.

Also, things that operate in the same frequency bands can knock devices off. Microwaves are an example. Depends on bands and capabilities.

And some of the routers with all those trendy antennas on them do beam forming to optimize connections. That can really help with interference or long distances to devices which doesn’t seem to be the issue here.

But network connections aren’t that robust especially as the wifi density now is huge so interference is a huge issue. Good quality routers can help. But also, before you think about upgrading, there’s a whole thing now about some routers and where they are built and if they will even be allowed to be imported (if you are in the US).

Seems the consensus is to use a RasPi dedicated to the X1C as a go between. :upside_down_face::winking_face_with_tongue::confused:

I stopped reading after a couple of pages of search listings.

Asus RT-AX55 router. Prusa printers worked fine with it.

Going to need new acronyms when it gets logged as a smartchair failure and it generates a site callout for the IoT people.

edit Come to think of it, I wouldn’t mind a chair with heating and cooling in, controlled by temperature sensor and the ambience of whatever music I have on.
