Why don’t the profiles include actual shrinkage? I assumed that Bambu would provide those for their own filaments at least.
Because shrinkage depends not only on the material but also on the component. Wall thickness and size play a key role here. Shrinkage also varies in each axial direction.
I think quite the opposite is true. In my understanding, shrinking only depends on the material and the difference between extrusion temperature and ambient temperature. the expansion coefficient is an inherent property of any material.
There might be other influences on dimensional accuracy, but for bigger parts, shrinking is by far dominating and very well to characterise.
I’m puzzled too, why BambuLab don’t use the compensation in their presets. It would be so easy to improve dimensions very close to perfect. In my experience, even same material types (e.g. PETG or PLA) from different manufacturers have been very close to each other, so they could put values for the generic profiles and achieve a big improvement.
Thanks. I realize that the geometry can also play a role in how it causes warping for example. Anyway I guess there is no special workflow with Bambu Studio here, compared to Orca for example. So I’ll continue measuring shrinkage by material and additionally use compensation in the process settings, if needed.
