As the title suggests, why update to firmware 1.08 when it only works correctly with Bambustudio 1.9 which is in beta version and Linux?
Why not release a firmware only when the official application is updated? I ask this as a non-beta testing user.
Thanks to those who help me understand
The latest firmware works perfectly fine with older BS or Orca. Perhaps you misunderstood the text “This function needs to be used with the slice files generated by Bambu studio v01.09.00.67 and above” in the release notes. As far as I’m aware, it says you might need a recent version of Bambu Studio if you want to save filament, that’s all.
Yes, I meant because this function (filament saving) can only be used in the beta version of BS and not in the official version of BS. Or rather, it is a firmware release with a beta function
It is impossible to keep both in sync as the Studio goes through much quicker update windows than firmware which is generally only every few months.
As noted above using the new firmware has 0 issues with older Studio version’s, you just can’t make use of the one feature unless you run the Beta version.
Is no point holding back a feature from firmware for another few month’s just because the Studio was not 100% ready at the time.
In sync or not, if firmware uses features not available in the production version of the software, there’s every reason to hold back firmware. The only reason it’s done is for the testers which should be totally separate from production. We’ve already seen where testers have posted in the forum confusing a lot of people with functions not in production or in Wiki.
The testing area is only open to testers. It doesn’t take a genius to limit the software to them as well as the firmware that goes with it.
