I don’t know but I hope it is more than 5.
Formulas do not learn from community feedback.
Well not with that attitude
You KNOW we are not talking about you Josh
Point Task Changes
- Bambu Academy Reward: 50 points upgrade to 100 points
- Upload a Model: 10 points for each new upload model, and up to 20 points in total.
- Upload a Print Profile: No Longer Available
Makerworld been rewarding some people while continuing to ignore certain reports ? will that also be changing ?
I agree with you, but the irony is: who decides that? An AI system! So what do you think will happen? Some people don’t see the big picture:
This basically translates to: It’s a black box - a type of AI that enables instructions to be given from outside, though the system itself is not controlled by humans. Understandably, the support team is too small to handle the amount of human resources required.
I think some people are too caught up in the excitement to realize that all of this could have been possible for years, even without a new system. It was already possible to promote models with little attention, and no one stopped Bambu from doing so.
I have my doubts about this, but I’m happy to be surprised.
Could a slicer orientated cube , determine a lot via the cloud
Its where photos should become integral to an uploaded model
@MakerWorld please, while working in your new points system take into account parametric designs as they deserve.
Usually the result is a simple model, but creating a script that makes the process easy for everyone is not that easy
Excited to see how it all works. The boost and exclusive model programs have worked well and I am looking forward to see how this helps for designers like myself who tend to make more complex niche things that take a long time to develop.
Hopefully it will prevent fraud from happening. I’ve long suspected that bad actors created networks that download, boost and print each other’s fake account in order to fraudently farm points. The rating system alone is 4€ a month, which is not a lot, but multiply it by a 1000 and it’s no longer a laughing matter. The program has personally got me very motivated to spend at least a few hours a day designing things and several new printers, and I am all for in taking care of it.
The complexity of the design is something that is very difficult to judge. I have ultra complex models that are extremely niche and weird, and not as useful to the world as my, let’s say, clothing rack elevator system. Although it looks simple, I made complex solutions that took hours to print and abandoned that. I then came up with a simple solution I haven’t seen before, so who decides that?
AI slop needs to be taken care of. Not punished or banned, but it needs to be taken care of. Bad design and AI output without even a test print with extra limbs and weird blobs presented with an image that generated it and nothing else, is not sustainable. People will blame the printer or the process. Trays with pristine top layer surface and a blurry profile image need to be held accountable .
I realize algorithm sometimes pushes bad designs (just search for my gridfinity drawer!) , but human intervention needs to come in and correct it before it balloons into several 1000$ of rewards for a guy who extruded a plane (but leave my gridfinity drawer alone!!) , beveled the edges, inset a little and bevel those, slapped a 0.2mm fast preset, rendered the image and used a controlnet to generate a ultra professional thumbnail. This is all nice and good, but this creator claims it is real, which is a blatant lie.
It simply isn’t fair to other designs that may sacrifice a little how they look, effort in taking a nice picture or print time.
It’s been confirmed numerous times and was even present on MakerWorld’s own “community” tab (as evidenced by community-tab related threads)
I just noticed there seem to be updated point rules in the bambuhandy app. We gonna have reputation score now.
Nice, I have been asking for this for a while.
It makes sense. Judge people on their behaviour and any changes to it, rather than assuming everyone is gaming the system.
There are far too many obvious accounts gaming the system, seemingly going unchecked despite reports from other users.
If it is also related to redeeming point delays, that would be good.
SO many feelings here…
Let’s see how all these changes evolve in some weeks.
OTOH I´m glad MakerWorld is finding news formulas to stop everyone who is gami9ng the system.
This should be the biggest nobrainer of all. The reason makerworld is under such pressure at all from the payment vendors is because of people using Megacorp© Brand’s IP, and that there is a cash-value-sum being traded in the form of points and giftcards outside of the terms of the model’s creative commons license.
This is basically 0xFEFEFE shade of gray legal area, the thinnest veil of credibility between money-value changing hands outside of the IP owner’s control. It’s the absolute letter of what the law allows but it still is shady lol. The only way they get away with it is because of their jurisdiction. If makerworld was stationed in US, EU, Japan, etc… Nintendo and Disney would already co-own it from the bankruptcy proceedings
Well I’m a beginning Maker and I’m very curious how this will affect the points system. I just ordered an A1 Mini with my points and it really feels like a trophy for me personally
Not going to happen. Point farmers would just boost each other and not others. I feel like it’s just right as it is as a legitimate creator, because it needs to be spread around.
Solution to that…is also offer premium boosts for money spent at bambulab …eg every $100 spent receive one boost to hand out. No point point farms spending money to hand boosts to boost each other for 1%!
People get to reward a little to designs they spending filament on.
This could run along all other point system , no blackbox, hard to cheat, no formulas or ai, just users who spend money on filament etc rewarding designs.
also… self-sustaining , better designs drive more sales…more sales …more boosts for them prints.
Applause to MW for keep trying to reward originality and creativity fairly. Can’t wait to see this new upgrade start working.
Yes! Should not have waited this long to get tougher. But better late than never.
I also support the suggestion to strip all models that use well-known trademark names and/or logos of all reward points, preferrably retrospectively.
There will be loud protests and threats to withdraw models from MW. But I hope MW keeps pushing forward for a better future of 3D printing.
I am getting ready to print another one of your fancy boxes today. I have a handful for your filament swatches and now I figure I should see what else could be stuffed into a box.
