I was wandering if the new H2C Vortek design will eliminate the need for a purge tower which has been a problem area for some H2D owners?
No probably not, you see each hotend has a color, and will purge to initially change colors, but no purge tower will probably be needed because that is to PURGE old Fillament from a hotend which would no longer exist if you have more then one nozzle on it

A purge tower also acts as a prime tower. So unless H2C has found a new way to prime, it may still be there. Will know soon.

Yes that does look like the purge tower is still needed.
This is what I expected to ensure the new nozzle is primed to optimally print the target model post each colour change.
Which also means there is still some waste - but much reduced!

That hasn’t really been a purge tower in any of the Bambu machines. I think it is just an outdated term that has stuck around.

Why would you not want a purge tower, it’s the basics of gettin flow perfect before it hits the main print.

print area is the only concern for me, but if it’s that large, printing infill first usually can solve the problem
You could probably get away without one but as others have said having one will balance out the flow and help minimize zits and strings where the after change nozzle starts printing. I tried to work around prime towers for years on my toolchanger before realizing that the filament/time savings just isn’t worth the aggrevation.

You are right. I replied using OP’s term without thinking. These are prime towers. There is no tower for purging, which is done inside the poop chute, ie, the restroom on BL printers.
