I have an issue that is now occurring on two of my P1S machines. When I remove the filament after a print job, I’ve noticed that the ends are stringy/wispy, which has never happened before. The result is that it keeps leaving behind small strands/wisps of filament in the extruder and I have to take the entire thing apart several times a day to clear them out. I use primarily Bambu Lab filament, but it is happening with every type of filament that I have.
Does anyone know what is causing this? And what I can do to make it stop?
It may be time to replace the filament cutter and to check the hot end fans.

I did replace the filament cutter and the hot end fan is brand new, just installed.

Mhm. “Unfortunately”, I have only experienced this once myself but can only remember it having been a special material print. I found advise that a worn cutter could potentially cause this error although from what I remember from my observations, to pull such fine strands the filament must have been unloaded during a beginning heat creep event.
It may have been my first attempts with PA6-CF as I am now using a Plus 4 for them…
Could you have a minutely higher chamber temp than usual? I can usually get away with up 39°C with PLA but at 40°C, there’s a hard and sudden ceiling for me.

PS: Maybe others can chime in if you can provide pics and further details. Like the filament concerned, AMS or rear spool printing, pics the wisps in the extruder can all help to reduce the guesswork and give more targeted feedback.
Stringy filament is generally caused by moisture in the filament and/or a little too much flow and/or too high an extrusion temp. Environmental factors and variation in filament diameter could explain these changes having an effect even though the same model printed fine in the past.
Dry filament if not already known to be dried, recalibrate flow manually for the current spool, reduce extrusion temp slightly if those two things don’t work.
