This guy is such a blast of what is clearly unbridled intellect and hands on ingenuity.
Looking. I have an IDEX machine that was sidelined due to BB purchase. And just been upgraded to 32bit, wifi, dual gear drives on the extruders, auto bed lev. But it is somewhat clunky, and limited by it’s bed slinger architecture. What can you do? Klipper firmware is a big departure for this machine, and generally you are on your own. But it is capable of doing flawless dual material, water soluble supports, two component models and Cura brings that to life. When I bring in a model comprising two separate but contiguous forms, like for example an orange with all the slices almost intimately joined as if one. But still it is separated into individual slices. Now you bring that file into BBS version of Orca and it all goes to hell. Cura hasn’t the slightest problem. The updates come fast and furious. 3rd party plugin and addon are FF and Open source is king. Sure I will use the BBL P1S and sell it on before it gets too stale. But I am looking at Voron,
I’m nearly finished my custom voron 2.4 build, looking forward to it
The above printer, myself I would just buy something like the new qidi q2, that looks amazing for the price point and a bigger build plate.
I guess if i was going to tear down any printer to convert to a klipper / reprap etc it would be a creality k2 +, nice huge chamber, 350mm build plate (likely bigger). A new graphite bed, mcu etc and extruder system, it would be a sweet machine.
