I’m wondering what the workflow with Solidworks cloud and OnShape looks like. Specifically, say I have a model I’m editing, I download a step file (I presume), I add it in BS and look at the slicing and there’s something I don’t like. Now, what are the steps to make a change in the model and get the change resliced in BS so I can see whether it’s what I want?
I use SolidWorks(SW) as my primary CAD software (no cloud), but to the best of my knowledge, there is no add-in for SWCloud in BambuStudio(BS), so the process must be the same. Maybe there are better ones, but what I do:
- re-edit the file in SW;
- rewrite the .step file;
- in BS, mouse right-click on the part and choose the option “Reload from disk”:
. - reslice the updated model;
I hope this helps.
I have no experience with OnShape.
I’m using OnShape. The “Reload from Disk” doesn’t work here, because the downloaded file gets a numbered name. If I have to change / improve something on a model, which I have already imported in Bambu Studio, I import (from menu) or use the “Add [?+I]” button from the toolbar to load it into the current project. Then I delete the “old” model. If you remove the “old” model before importing the reworked one, all slicer settings are lost.
Thanks for sharing the information. That is not a long-term viable solution if you often rely on your designs.
I have no experience with OnShape, but similar issues occur in many other software. Usually, the automatically exported model name relies on a set of rules for exporting, where you can code how the file names should be saved… permit the setup of the output name format. I’m not sure about replacing the existing step file, but you should know it better than me.
