Worst Printer Ever!

Here’s my issue. Just received my P1S early this week. Tried some filaments and could not use Polyterra as it wont stick to the bed like the filament that came with the printer does. Overture sticks no problem so after several failed prints and test prints Polyterra went to the trash. Printed a resident evil leon figure with overture no problem. Then this is where everything went south.

  • Tried printing with the PLA the printer came with. It got stuck in the extruder so I had to disassemble it, clean it, then put it all back.
  • Found a sort of melted hole in the assembly of the extruder but I think it’s part of it…maybe?!
  • Printed some test blocks with it and with overture…good to go!
  • Tried printing pichapool, gave me error 0700-4000-0002-0004.
  • Filament is again stuck in the extruder but now its even worst. The printer will not reset. It still reads printing.
  • Cannot reset printer via handy app or the LCD screen. Still reads printing but nothing is moving or happening.
  • LCD is unresponsive now!
  • Unplugged it for 24hours and plugged it and turned it on. STILL READS PRINTING AND NOTHING WORKS!
  • LCD won’t show anything unless you tap it. Doesn’t do this all the time now but a few times before I gave up trying to fix it.
  • Opened a trouble ticket and of course this last issue happened on a Friday.

I’ve had a original Ender 3 and a Anycubic Vyper before this and at least I could print stuff! Spent $$$ and I was hoping to print more cool stuff but all I’ve done is spend an entire week troubleshooting this junk. I want my money back!

UPDATE #1
Wife told me to try the app again. I did and this time it released the printing session and the LCD is now responsive but this is terrible design. Why do I need the APP to actually get to this point when the LCD is there for that same reason?! I still do not trust it so I need to return it and get my money back.

UPDATE #2
Printing with one color only since the above issue happened when trying to use 3 colors. Shouldn’t be this much problem when using it as its intended purpose. I’m stilled not convinced I’m going to keep it.

UPDATE #3
AMS A slot2 is overloaded. didnt finish the print.

Wouldn’t be printing with the doors and top closed would you?

Did you update the firmware? Run full printer calibration after update?

Current firmware is 01.06.01.02. IDK if there’s anything to it, but some have reported bed adhesion issues after up. I’m not one of them. Those that are claiming this say that rolling back firmware fixed bed adhesion issues.

Or you could simply try raising bed temp to 65. As John says, try lid/door ajar as well. I’m generally having lid opened slightly.

From what I gather from past reading of issues and resolutions, you might be experiencing heat creep causing your clogs.

Mhm, a “melted hole”? With a picture, people could compare.

Clogs and clog like behaviour can happen for a variety of reasons on the Bambus. It could be as simple as PTFE’s not being cut at 90° angles or not pushed in fully. It could be as complicated as a recurring partial clog travelling happily from the extruder to the nozzle and back again…

Considering the error code is with the Buffer, that may be where the root cause sits, so it may just be the PTFE’s. There’s a special/rare case where a Buffer internal magnet needs to be flipped, but try the PTFE’s first.

Yes i did…thnx for your reply.

i would have to disassemble the entire extruder again and i dont want any further issues. im currently printing a big print but only at a single color since i dont trust doing a multi-color print. i will let you know the results. i will also have to do another multi-color print but i will have to make the item smaller so not to waste any more filament…thnx for the reply.

Since you are running it from the rear spool wirhout prob’s (:crossed_fingers:), the issue is most likely in the buffer anyway.

I am amazed at how quickly people start taking their brand-new BL printer apart to fix problems. It’s supposed to work out of the box.

I would use it without any changes, everything on the default setting, for at least a whole week. If there is any problem, I would contact the customer service. If they can’t sovle it fast enough, I would ask for a replacement (if I believe this particular printer happens to be a lemon) or refund (if I now realize that I wouldn’t like the printer even if there were no problems).

The only caveat is to read the instruction carefully and follow all the steps to the letter. Don’t make assumptions based on what one learns on Enders or other tinkering-friendly printers before. Don’t do any manual adjustments, at least in the first week or two.

This is an easy check, give the spring a flick from the slot and it’ll fall into place if this happens.

Good point. In particular in filing a ticket for anything going wrong in the first weeks just to make sure that it undeniably falls under warranty in case the repair solitions proposed by support do not work after all. And of course support needs some time to narrow down the issue.

Sounds like a genuine issue to me. The Bambu’s are great and reliable imo. But that just increases the frustration when things go awry. Had that with a Lidar. And just before that would have been fixed with the 3rd batch of replacements and days of fixing, the main board blew. Just unlucky. Took 5 months to get a replacement printer on warranty as it was in parallel to the A1 recall.Talk about withdrawal…

Fortunately, this here just appears to be the buffer. Could be a little bit tedious if it is the buffer magnet issue rather than the spring so let’s :crossed_fingers:

Indeed. Troll is going to troll. Ignore him.

Frankly, as an EX-Ender owner, those printers need constant tweaking/tinkering to print and what worked for last weeks print might not work this week…

On top of that although a hand-in-glove sort of relationship is the constant buying of upgrades, both big and small as part of the tweak mindset.

The net result of all that parts replacement and firmware tinkering, be it Marlin or Klipper, the printer owner comes to Bambu with a BUNCH of bad 3d printing experiences fixed in their brain along with an almost reflexive need to tweak something.
Why? Because of the experience of cheap bedslingers. Like Pavlov’s Dogs.

why? i thought that was the whole point.

i am not…but makes me feel this is not the printer for me

im sorry…but isnt this a forum to ask for help? why are you assuming im a troll?

You can almost smell the creality in the air at times  Owners like this have trust issues and never happy to just press SEND PRINT and let the thing do its job. Took me a month before I could walk out the room and believe it would be ok.

Mods and excessive calibrating aren’t needed, I have a mini also and its such a great little workhorse I can’t remember the last time it gave me an issue.

I’ve seen you’re having issues with the AMS #2, your initial post is a little convoluted but I’m assuming you’re using a non-bambu spool? Most the time issues with AMS can be caused by spools that aren’t the same dimensions (diameter and width).
