Iv had my A1 for 3 rears now with little issues. today i started a print and it started printing about 10mm off the back of the bed. when i stopped the print the z started slowly moving down freely and i could move the bed very easily with barley any resistance. I turned the printer off and back on and the z slowly moved down again as if there was no resistance Its like all the motors have no resistance at all. I started another print and its starting the print off the back again. When i stop it the extruder returned to home as normal and started slowly dropping down to the bead. Any ideas please.
Have you checked the Z-belt? Is it in place? Can you see it from below the printer? Have you “homed” the printer?
Same thing here, I have A1 the printer since Christmas and in the last month that behavior started to happen.
The printer still prints ok but frequently, just after print ends or when I switch the printer off, the Z axis starts to slowly drop to the bottom.
I’ve not checked if the Z belt is in place, but, I think if it wasn’t the print jobs should fail, no?
Is there any device to avoid the Z axis from moving when powered down or the motor is not energized? Is the motor the only thing that keeps the axis in place?
If the belt was loose the print jobs should have a lot of errors. they don’t!
I’m I missing something??

Hi. Chech to see how hot the bottom of your printer is getting. This only happend during a long print and the bottom of my printer was realy hot. I have put a cooling fan in place and it seems to have solved the isue. When the z motor gets too hot it effects the magnets in the motor which is what stops it from turning.
