X1C AMS custom filament names reset to Generic on printer screen

Printer / Hardware

  • Printer: Bambu Lab X1 Carbon

  • AMS: Yes (1 AMS unit, 4 slots)

  • Connection mode: Cloud

  • SD card installed: Yes

  • Mobile app: Bambu Handy

  • Slicer: Bambu Studio

Firmware / Software

  • Printer Firmware: 01.11.02.00

  • Bambu Studio version: 2.6.1.55 / Plugin Version 02.06.01.50

  • Bambu Handy version: 3.19.0

Problem Description

I can successfully create and use custom filament profiles in Bambu Studio and also in Bambu Handy (mobile app).
When sending prints from Studio/Handy everything works fine and the correct filament settings are applied.

However, when I go directly to the printer screen and open the AMS filament settings, the filament configuration appears to be reset/overwritten.

The issue is specifically on the X1C screen:

  • Filament names/custom presets configured for AMS slots disappear

  • Slots revert to Generic PLA / Generic PETG or default profiles

  • It seems the printer is overwriting or clearing the AMS stored filament configuration when viewing/editing it locally

So basically:

  • Studio and Handy show the correct custom filaments

  • The printer UI does not keep them and resets them

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create or edit a custom filament preset (either in Bambu Studio or Bambu Handy)

  2. Assign the filament to an AMS slot (color, type, brand/custom name)

  3. Confirm everything looks correct in Studio/Handy

  4. Go to the X1 Carbon screen → AMS → Filament settings / Edit filament

  5. The filament preset/name is lost or overwritten and becomes Generic again

Expected Behavior

The X1 Carbon screen should display and keep the filament configuration assigned to each AMS slot, including custom names/presets.

Actual Behavior

When opening AMS filament settings on the printer screen, the slot configuration is overwritten/reset and custom presets/names disappear.

Notes / Additional Observations

  • Printing works fine when initiated from Studio or Handy.

  • Issue seems limited to the printer UI / AMS slot management.

  • I dont user RFID auto-detection.

  • Started happening recently (it worked before) also in current firmware.

Troubleshooting Tried

  • Confirmed same account is logged in on printer + Handy + Studio

  • Confirmed cloud connectivity is working

  • Custom filaments can be created and selected in Studio/Handy without issues

  • Issue occurs when interacting directly with AMS slots from printer screen

Request

Can someone confirm if firmware 01.11.02.00 introduced a change/bug where AMS slot filament presets are overwritten/reset on the printer UI?
Any known fix (disable RFID auto-detect, reset AMS presets, downgrade firmware, etc.)?

The wall of text…

You have to create your own filament with different name eh “my generic” then use that as your real multi-purpose. Button is the sprocket on top right in the filaments tab

No, I already have dozens of custom filaments I’ve created and have used them all the time for several years.

A rare bug…

I fixed it by logging out and back in to the printer.
