Had a strange issue I’m hoping someone can provide some insight on. Got distracted today starting a print and forgot to put the build plate back in. I got a notification of an error on my phone and was surprised to see that there wasn’t a mess on the magnetic bed but that nozzle had just sat over the poop shoot and ejected 30% of the print (20grams) to the point it nocked the cover off and gummed up the nozzle.
Luckily it seems the only damage done was to the nozzle, but I am stumped as to why it behaved this way. If it does not detect a build plate, is this a programmed response as not to damage the magnetic build plate? I have build plate identification turned off so I figure that is not the reason, but I do not understand why it just sat in one spot until it self destructed.
I have replaced the nozzle and am currently running calibration. Going to try again and pay attention this time but I am wondering if there is something else I should be checking. X1C with about 2000 hours on it, recently serviced.
Thanks in advance.
