X1C Extruder adjustments

I had an issue with a small piece of filament in the extruder, and found it necessary to dissemble the extruder to remove. As part of the process, it was necessary to back off the adjustment screw that pinches the filament between the two gear wheels. I tried to estimate where the screw was , and return to the same adjustment, but now I don’t know what the adjustment should be (How far the screw should be screwed in)
Can anyone tell me what that adjustment should be?

Also, I tried to open the extruder adjustment page, but it says I don’t have access, wrong password or user name, but other topics on same page work OK with my username and password.

Just crank it down all the way.

All the way? won’t cause any problems with pushing filament through?

Nope, all the way is the correct method.

I’ve had my extruder completely apart once to clear my only clog, and realized during re-assembly that I had no idea how far to tighten the adjuster. I could not (and still can not) find any mention of the correct tension in the Wiki. I eventually tightened the screw all the way until it stopped. I’ve had no problems since, using PLA, PETG, 95A TPU, ASA, PC, or PA6.

It makes no sense to me to have an adjuster at its limit, but it works.

I agree with you completely, adjusting something to it’s limit isn’t adjusting…
I compromised though, I wound it down and then backed it off a scoch, just so there would be a little amount of spring action - all filament maybe not be exactly the same diameter, no matter what the manufacturer says, (although I have not tested every filament. I’ll error on the side of caution, and perhaps save a tiny motor…)

Thanx for your reply
