Hi All,
My X1C fan is making different sounds to what I remember. Specifically it is like the fan is speeding up and then slowing down. Like wind does when there are gusts. I have not been around much and the printer tends to just get on with it so I haven’t noted when this started, but when I used to work from the same room I remember a more consistent fan noise.
Did something change in the firmware?
thanks
Josh
Can you specify which fan you are referring to?
My fan has also started speeding up and slowing down. The speed change is gradual but noticeable. Is this the start of a bad fan? The fan I am referring to is the large fan on the left side of the printer. The part cooling fan.
Hi. just been back to see if I can work it out but I can’t. Interestingly I am in the middle of an 18 hour print and the first part was building tree supports. Could it be extra cooling for them.
Josh
Hi. mine isn’t just a quick speed up then down but nor is it a gradual building. it is somewhere in between.
Just noticed today that my X1C is doing the same thing. At the moment its printing in PLA and is on the first layer, so im not so sure about the idea of it cooling for supports. Any other thoughts?
Hi. I received the info below from support. Haven’t had chance to do the steps yet though.

"I can hear the fan noises on the video, I cant hear anything abnormal in particular,
Could you please (while not printing) do the following and video it
Turn ON AUX FAN

Check the Chamber Temperature regulator fan
At the same time you Can also check the MC FAN
Check the Front housing Part Fan

Please video this each one indiidualy
The Selft test should verify that the Camber regulator fan and MC fan are working properly,
You can individually test AUX fan and Front housing part fan
The difference in speed that you hear (like the gust) may be based on the cooling parameters in settings
When printing slower it can increase the fan speed, or when printing overhangs/bridges, it may decrease the part fan speed
You can look that up in the cooling section on the Filament settings
