I’m wondering how to fix this issue. It has only happened twice in the last 6 months. One of the guide chain links has disengaged a couple of times now. Are there instructions somewhere how to fix this from happening in the future. I carefully looked at the link and it appears fine, no breaks, the nubs look fine etc., so I don’t believe it’s a ware issue. I know the white tube hits rubs on the top glass IF I have the top
installed, but I rarely do.
just a thought but if the guide chain keeps breaking free it could mean that an unusual amount of pressure is being put on the guide chain and it’s simply breaking at the weakest point. I did notice in your photo that the PTFE coupler on the PTFE tube was pushed in a bit as well. I think if you have anything upstream of the ptfe tube putting stress on the tube it may be putting stress on the guide chain as well as it is fastened to the guide chain. Printables has a free print that you may want to experiment with called Bambu X1 PTFE Extruder Bracket AMS Error Fix by OurAngryBadger that may work for you. Do you use an AMS?
I should have mentioned that I don’t have the AMS. I can’t believe I didn’t purchase it when I first bought the printer a year or so ago. O’well.
This has only happed a couple of times. Three to be exact. Please explain what you meant by the “PTFE coupler on the PTFE tube was pushed in a bit”. I was wondering if there is a default configuration for the PTFE white tube, meaning how much their should be on either side of the clamp (that’s on the chain) holding it in place.
So that metal do-dad (Red Square) looks like a coupler (joins 2x peices of PTFE together) though I think in this case it’s actual purpose is to indicate the proper length of the PTFE / Bowden tube. Under normal circumstances that should be more or less next to the Green box (rubber gromet) otherwise you have an extra inch of slack on the printer side. This happens to me when I push filament too hard into the extruder (i occasionally had extruder gear issues) which is itself an indication you have a problem with the hotend or the filament path. In summary push the tube back a little bit so that the metal bit (red square is mated to the rubber grommet (green) and you should have the appropriate PTFE length. outside of that give the print i recommended a shot and see if that does anything. Does the guide only break during long prints or is it totally random?
