i have three rolls of Sunlu PLA+ in the AMS. They were calibrated some time ago on the black PEI:
Roll 1, green: 0.033
Roll 2, white: 0.027
Roll 3, black: 0.024
Yesterday I serviced the printer, installed the firmware update 01.09.00.01, and ran the device calibration. I thought, come on, recalibrate the filament to see if anything has changed.
(Because I’ve already noticed these fluctuating values during flow dynamics calibration, including on the cold plate even with earlier Firmware Versions)
So I ran it again:
Roll 1, green: 0.005
Roll 2, white: 0.004
Roll 3, black: 0.020
So, black is about the same value. But there’s quite a difference between the green and white measurements.
And I bet if I run it again now, I’ll get a completely different result.
Do you have that too?
I’ve noticed that with dark plates and the chamber light on, results can be inconsistent. What I’ve started doing is using my white Darkmoon g10 plate and turning the chamber light off for auto calibrations and my results have been much more accurate and consistent.
Apparently lidar dislikes extra lighting and dark colors/objects.
If you have one of those Biqu glacier plates those also give good results since they’re a lighter color and partially smooth.
My results so far have been super consistent on yellow PEI plates, both smooth and textured, and with chamber lights on. I have even stopped calibrating filaments explicitly and use calibration at the start of print. Even transparent PETG on textured plate works fine.
I haven’t used a dark plate yet, so can’t comment on that. And I have heard multiple times, that external light can interfere with the lidar. Maybe that could be your issue?
I turned off the light in the room and in the printer and run the calibration again on the black textured pei and on the smooth pei.
Roll 1, green: failed
Roll 2, white: failed
Roll 3, black: 0.023
The software has become complete nonsense since 1.8…
I just printed a small part with the new firmware 1.9… I was able to print 50 of them with the old firmware without any problems. With the new firmware, nothing sticks to the bed! I reinstalled the old firmware 1.8.2 - it’s printing without any problems again - out-of-the-box!
Are you talking about the pre print calibration or the ones from the calibration tab? Because there’s no way you’re getting successful results with transparent PETG.
If you’re talking about the pre print one, it will fail silently and revert to default if it is unable to read the test lines.
If I remember correctly, there are a few versions of the LIDAR with different laser light colors. Maybe that makes a difference too, although the claim, that they all deliver identical results?
im talking about the calibration tab.
i dont use transparent PETG - i wrote in the first post, that im use SUNLU PLA+
The printer has not been modified with any crappy parts but is in original condition. Buildplates are also original from Bambu.
