X1c grinding xy axis

My10 hour old printer is making pretty nasty grinding sounds which seems to be on the xy somewhere and only occurs when performing a clockwise circle at higher speeds.

I am printing the jet engine model on maker world out of PLA and have seen some people saying it’s just with this print but I’m not sure if that’s true.

I have cleaned the carbon rods according to manufactures guidelines,

It’s likely just the slicer settings. Try rearranging the model on the build plate.
Sometimes the way the model is positioned can cause unusual noises, but it’s probably nothing wrong with your machine.

This happens because the circles are an approximation and are really just straight lines laid together, the resolution will determine how smooth.

I had the same issue when importing my design from fusion at default settings, they are set let’s say in the middle of quality and speed. In this case my circles would come out with say 5mm straight lines for a 100mm diameter. And it would go GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, for every circle.

Then I exported as step with the max resolution and I could no longer see the straightness of the lines that make the circle, it was nearly perfect now and when the printer printed it it goes shhhhhhhhhhhhooom, or in other words, very quiet.

Now there are new import options in bambu studio for quality, but I have not used them yet as I have not updated in a while. I guess what I’m saying is there should be multiple ways to mitigate this now but you will never get a better resolution in Bambu Studio than what you exported from the 3d modeler (IE use STEP).

I had a similar issue and was just searching for a solution. My issue is it’s making nice noises (schwooom) on the part, but it’s making grinding noises on the tree supports - which to my recollection I can’t remember happening for the few weeks I’ve had mine. I haven’t tried rearranging things on the build plate but it brought up some immediate concerns

Well, we can’t control the supports so I would say if they work it is fine. The grinding noise isn’t really an issue it’s just the harmonics of the steppers. But if its happening on your circular parts and you want them nice and circular I give the previous answer. Here with supports we don’t care as long as they do their job.

If there is an issue then the supports will simply start to fail due to being pushed around and losing their frame of reference or breaking clean off the plate.
