X1C Inconsistent Outer Wall

Hi,

I have recently started getting inconsistent outer walls on prints, resulting in random horizontal lines. Most small prints turn out perfectly, but larger prints end up with issues.
I have tried using different temperatures, wall order settings, number of walls, different infill, different filament brands and slower speeds - all resulting with the same issue.

I am using a Bambu X1 Carbon with the following:
Hardened steel 0.4 nozzle
Gold PEI bed

Filament eSun PLA+
Hot End Temp 220
Bed Temp 55
Number of walls 3 (tried 4 as well)

The outer wall in the image is meant to be smooth, any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hi @Frostbite

Welcome to the forum.
Those artefacts are “typical” in FDM printers and can be related to many causes.
Since you have already assessed the filament, can you confirm it’s dry (i.e., adequately dried and protected from moisture during printing)? Also, did you calibrate the filament (flow rate and pressure advance)?

The problem may be with the printing file or printer if the above answers are positive. For the former, please share print screens of the preview window showing flow and layer time.

I have the filament in a dryer now, hopefully it makes a difference. The filament is usually protected as I use it with the X1C AMS. I have calibrated the flow (0.98) but I will check the layer time.

Here is a screen shot of the layer time, flow was consistent across the outer wall of the model

Drying the filament helped a little but the problem remains. I think it has something to do with the layer time but unsure what I should change.

Here are two calibration cubes showing the fame filament and settings working well for smaller objects
