I’m new to 3D printing, and I bought a used X1C about 3 months ago, and I print ASA with it. Its been a bit of a learning curve for me, I thought I messed up buying a used printer. Turns out it wasn’t the printer having the problem, it was the operator trying to run ASA and not making small tweaks to get it just right.
Still learning but this used X1C has been teaching me what I’m doing wrong especially using different filament.
I’ll keep it, it prints just fine.
Im still rocking one x1c but it will be given to a friend soon.
X1C is still my first choice for single colour prints or even for prints with occasional colour changes. Even for printing ABS in quite cold weather I found I was using an X1C for prototyping rather than waiting ages for my H2C heated chamber to heat up.
I almost sold one of my two X1Cs - but am glad I didn’t because whilst most of the time I have no printers printing - a lot of the time when I am printing something I find I split it across multiple printers.
I don’t know how things are going to be for the X1E series spares, software and firmware wise, though I think most of X1C spares could be used. Well, at least some if not a large part of them. As for the software/firmware, I believe it would be wise to stick with what works best for it and not further upgrade.
Personally, I’ve began stockpiling spares for my X1Cs since October-November 2024, by placing regular orders every 3-4 months for the most likely items that would eventually require replacement (plates, belts, pulleys, hotheads, boards, nozzles, tubes, etc). I’ve managed to build up quite a reasonable spares stock that would allow me to repair and run my printers for at least a few years from now. And, although the pressure for getting spares, due to EOL, was greatly mitigated through those orders, I still occasionally order a few more, now and then, but I’m no longer concerned should Bambu decide at some point in time to discontinue supplying and remove all the existing X1C spares from the webshop.
Eventually, should at some point run out of spares, I can always start cannibalising the useful stuff from one of my older X1Cs, one by one, until only one remains.
Obviously, at some point in time, not even this option would work anymore. However, it’s highly likely that in this time, either Bambu, or one or more of its main competitors, will launch much better machines, with improved functionalities and capabilities, that would satisfy my needs and replace the last surviving X1C.
Time will tell.
I put some black “acoustic and heat isolation plates with foam on top” on the outside, because i print PAHT with my heayv modded x1c : Panda breath, obsidian nozzle, electronic cooling fans, better heatbed from PrinCore and a custom thermal isolation at the rear spindle (keeps the heat in the chamber and the electronics cool, too) - and the 1.5 GT belt mod, doing by my own (no more VFAs on printed objects) .
With all the extra fans and without the outside isolation this X1C sounds like an “jet engine”, but after mounting the black isolation (car acoustic noised canceling) the sound level is much quieter as the QIDI MAX4 next to it 
and because there is some black foam on the outside at the acoustic it looks like an black pitbull … (i put a black pitbull face lithophane on the glass door, too)
btw : i sell all other bambulab printer here and switch over to Snapmaker and QIDI, just one old A1 stays in the wood/metal shop for making helping tools for wood/metal working - but my X1C as my “workhorse on steroid” stays probably forever ( i hope so)
