X1C print on y-axis not parallel?!

Hi there!

I just noticed, that my prints were not square, when I did test-print a 20x20 cube.
The y-axis seems to shift from left to right, as shown in this picture:

I have already checked the belt tension, cleaned the rods, etc. The printer is just about 250 hours old. How do I solve this?

Open a ticket with support to resolve this. That is bizarre indeed.

I can think of only one explanation for a result like that: it’s either a manufacturing defect or shipping damage. It could be that your stepper motors or belts are out of alignment but that too is supposed to be self calibrating.

Please let the community know how you end up remedying it after contacting Bambu. This is one for the record books.

opened a ticket, will update here

Check to make sure the nozzle attachment screws are tight and the nozzle isn’t bent.

I can’t decide from the picture if the line at the right rear is also skewed.

The heat bed is attached with six screws.

I didn’t think the slots would would allow that much skew, but that might be something to check.

Nozzle wasn´t bent, just to be sure I replaced the nozzle with a original brand new one and did another test-print before opening this thread. No change in the outcome.

I´m on my way to the printer checking right now, thanks.

If one of the a/b steppers was loosing steps it could cause this.

the heatbed screws are not loose, so Im assuming the bed is fine.

how do I check this?

So far no response from BambuLab.

OK. Full disclaimer. When I first saw this YouTube video about making sure that the rail alignment was perfectly square on an X1, my initial thought was “here’s yet another engineer with too much time on his hands” or “This guy is running out of ideas for his YouTube channel”. The process by which he squares up his machine just seemed overkill. That was until the Original Post at the top of this thread.

Take a look at what this YouTuber did and see if this method of squaring the printer gantry may help.

There is a jig on Printables that may also help. Again, when I saw this it looked like yet another one of those “Great solutions looking for a problem to solve”. But then here we are with this oddball skew.

If you do find these remedies work, please for the sake of the community, share your results.

Good luck :four_leaf_clover:

time for a quick run to the hardware-store, as long as its open
I´ll update you guys once I´ve done this procedure!
jig-adapters are already printing on my SV08 right now :sunglasses:

alright, I´m a step further at least, my gantry is like 0,01mm off…
I did the tape-washer-thing from the video, but the issue still persists.
Kind of awkward, maybe this is a software/firmware issue?!

At this point since you’re already committed to performing arduous measurements, I might suggest one more item to check. See if the lead screws are plumb with respect to the base. One can do this in the X and Y orientation and a simple square. Here’s what first comes to mind.

If the three lead screws were in fact somehow bent, that could explain the weird geometry. If not, then at least you have ruled out the lead screws as possible culprits.

well, Its all square. However, just for fun or despair in my case, I did downgrade the firmware from 01.08.02.00 to 01.07.03.00 and did a test-print then…
Its fixed! The purge-line and the print is now perfectly square!
I´m willing to try going back to newest firmware after the print finished and I completely investigated the print result. Will update here… this behaviour is pretty strange

That’s excellent news. What method did you use to finally resolve it? Were you able to determine the root cause?

not yet… I´d assume it was faulty firmware/flash process, I dont really know
I´ll fire up a test-print with the latest firmware in a minute.
The old-firmware-print looks good, the crooked purge-line is also gone. Very strange…

alright, that has seemed to fix the issue completely.
Downgrade to old fw => print => flash new fw => success (?) I guess
Thanks everyone for helping
