X1C print stop as if canceled, and error unknown code 03000D00-0002000A

sorry for the long post, I’m a bit lost :
X1c print failed, with “unknown error”
the error code in the message is 03000D00-0002000A-162112
edit : the last part 1622112 is the timestamp, so not significant"

Sequence started as :

  • print of 2 models, using a PEI smooth plate, using the 0.2 nozzle : no problem
  • started a print, model sliced on the same settings (high temp plate, petg, 0.2 nozzle) : print stopped at build plate check, stating it’s not matching the sliced model :thinking:
  • I ignored the warning, as I was sure of the plate type
  • print failed, no adhesion at all : I stopped the print

and the plate was indeed the right one : smooth PEI plate, as before

cleaning of the nozzle, but the X1C kept complaining about possible filament break in the etruder, and inability to extract it , while I was able to extrude cleanly some fresh filament
As I already experienced, teh printed lost both AMS and considered only the external spool
AMS restored , purge of the filament, stop/start of the printer : all seemed fine

Since then, my prints attemps stop just at the beginning of the pre-print checks, showing the "print canceled, and asking ot the problem I encountered (of course, no cancel from me)
HMS shows a message with “unknown error” and the code 03000D00-0002000A-162112
not that helpful, as no page available in the wiki

I found that the **03000D00" code family seems to be related to plate homing, so will try and change the build plate and start a full calibration,

Anyone had such weird errors ?

Could one of the 2 buttons above the door get stuck and cancel the prints as soon as they start ?

I’ve had build plate recognition issues before, I’d say most of us have, and in all my cases, even if the plate matches the sliced plate and is the correct plate installed, and the printer tells me it’s the incorrect plate, if I continue the print, it never prints correctly.

I see a lot more oily fingerprints on your plate that I wouldn’t be comfortable printing with, even if they’re in non-printable areas. I strongly suggest a fingerprint free (oily fingerprints, even if not visible, will cause adherence issues on the smooth plate) build plate. I would start with cleaning both sides of the smooth PEI printing plate with warm water and dish soap (Dawn works great), and try your best to not touch the printing areas after cleaning. I’ve now started using disposable gloves when I clean my plate, and depending on the print, to remove 3D prints from my build plate. I wash my plate after about 5 prints.

Edit: Also, I have seen people on this forum print QR codes for (older) build plates to help with the recognition issue, you may be able to find those posts if you search.

@Kioto :thanks for your observations, flash pictures seem to highlight the various reflects on the plate

I went back to the printer and swapped for a different plate, and a 0.4 nozzle, before trying a printer auto test

the autotest failed with similar code 0300 4000 174717

and next attempt with a slightly different code 0300 4000 174817

full calibration failed too, but with more informative error message about “referincing Z axis failure”

0300d00-020000a-162817

which isn’t forwarded to the HSM , “unknown error + code 03000d00-0002000a-180517”

the last part seems to follow our local time , so is not significant : I’ll edit the threa to remove it

While I was checking the printer Z axis motors, I noticed that one of the bearing (?) seems out of place on the right hand Z guide

compared to the left side

I’ll look in the wiki about refitting the part, it seems that’ll need to take the printer apart :frowning:

several other thread about such errors suggest to check the rear Z axis could be messed up by print residues

I’ll check the easy ones first :innocent:

thanks for this : very similar problem to mine, and seems to match the only solution from the X1 wiki, and the P1 and X1 share the same mechanism

his guide lines for the repair are much clearer : I’ll try the repair per @Olias thread , and will report back

Try turning off your chamber light, it may be messing with the LIDAR given the very shiny build plate.

And wash your build plate! I’m surprised anything sticks to it at all

@Carbonforge : no adhesion problem before that with this plate, and the chamber light is only on for the pictures
origin of the problem is located in the move of the sliding bushes, I just need to find which screw size is needed to apply the fix

edit : the packing guide gives the answer at step 5, ie 3 x BT3-28mm screws

but I doubt I got any with my 2nd hand printer : time for a part bin inventory

after a thourough re-read of Olias thread, I started pulling the printer off the rack, in order to put it upside down and push on the plate on the side where the guide had moved. It took several attempts, but finally I got it back flush to the plate holder.

I did a few other maintenance jobs, easier done when the printer was disconnected, like changing a ptfe tube from the AMS hub to the head, or adding the chute lever boot my rpinter had lost

then put everything back in the rack, reconnected both AMS, and , bingo, auto test ran fine, build plate levelling ok, and printing is available again :grinning_face: :grinning_face: :grinning_face:
