X1C replaced nearly everything... Still wont work

When asking for help, please provide as much information as possible about your inquiry.
This will help everyone to better understand your problem, and provide you with the best solution.

  • Detailed description of the problem
  • Printer model used
  • Slicer settings used
  • Type of filament used
  • Photos that clearly show the problem
  • .3mf file (if the file can be shared)
  • Any potentially useful information that is related to the problem

I have an x1C just out of warranty even though European consumer law says expecting an item to last 2 years is not unreasonable.

About 2 weeks ago i had prints starting to fzil. Then I started getting an error message stating the hot end fan was showing abnormal.

I replaced 4 fans just in case. None of them solved it.

I then replaced the TH board. Both sides.

That did not fix it so i replaced the USB cable.

At that point bambu stopped replying to the support ticket.

I then changed the MC board. Again no difference.

I want to change the last and most expensive board ( and most difficult so I am told) but with no contact with Bambu I am worried I cant get the serial numbers updated.

How do i check that the tach cable/route has continuity??

At this rate i wont be buying another Banbu sadly.

File a formal complaint with your national consumer Ombudsman , submit all supporting evidence and exchanges you had with Bambu’s support, and request the Ombudsman’s intervention in solving this matter. Might take some time, but even if not solved to your satisfaction, it creates precedents that could eventually lead to forcing Bambu to comply with European protection consumer laws when it comes to EU customers.

They are in the middle of the Chinese new year I think so you probably will not get a response until its over.

^^^ This.

I do a lot of business in Asia as part of my real job. This week is rough. I have emergency contact numbers I can call if I need to. But email? No one is checking. A lot of people take the whole week off. In a few cases, I know that they actually power down their entire facility for the holiday so people can’t go in and work even if they wanted to.

It is unusual that BL asks a customer to replace nearly everything, at least not in two weeks time. Which of the above replacements was recommended by BL support?

The Chinese New Year holiday is Feb 15-23 this year. It is a public holiday there, everyone is off except for essential services.

They only advised replacing the TH Board but as you alluded to they are going into Chinese new year. So i had to fault find myself in an attempt to solve the problem so i can print for my grandkids over half term.

Even if i get an AP Board i cant get it working till nect week at the earliest. :frowning: and thats assuming it fixes the problem.

In my opinion, you replaced too much too fast  , even without advices from BL support. I understand the desire to get the printer back to work, but I would suggest holding off on any more replacements, such as the AP board that you said you wanted to do. Wait until they are back from the holiday and get their guidance on what to do next.

But they dont seem to have a clue and are so slow. Besides what else can it be?

or maybe they do know something because they made the printer. There have been posts on this forum that some regretted not trusting the support and wasted their time doing the fixing based on their own understanding or expertise.

The thread title mentioned “replaced nearly everything” caught my attention and I am here offering my opinion. But at the end of the day, it is your printer, you can do whatever you want with it.

I do appreciate your reply. Its just so frustrating getting no replies.

It looks like i will have to take your advice

Thanks for your help.

Another example of the “fixed it to death” syndrome.

It would be nice if it did not fail in the first place. But I stil fail to understand how you can fix anything to death..?

You’ve replaced so much stuff, doing what we called in my electronics shop “shotgunning” parts, that you still don’t know the problem and have introduced a whole series of other variables. Just throwing parts at something is not how you troubleshoot.

Could you tell me what i should have done. I fitted the TH board on the advice of Bambu support.

I am then left twiddling my thumbs. No reply from. Bambu with them more interested in telling me the warranty had expired and also telling me the logs could not tell me it WAS the TH board.

:frowning:

I was an electronics engineer and worked on the Accutrac. Forerunner of the CD auto changer.

We trouble shot by having known working versions of each part including wiring harness. etc. Sadly in this case i dont have the luxury of known working parts. But sitting on my hands is not a preffered option. AND i have some spares in case one of those does break.

When you got the error message, did the printer still function or did it refuse to go farther than giving you the error message?

Did you try using the front panel to set the fan speeds manually? That should tell you which fan was having the issue I think. I haven’t had this problem so don’t know that would force the error but I think it might.

Or, does the error only appear in self test or during a print?

Last, just something that would help others - sometimes saying it or other words like that can be ambiguous. Stating everything may seem pedantic but it may keep others from trying to fix the wrong problem. In this case you mentioned prints starting to have problems and the error message. I assume it means error message but with people typing into the void sometimes you don’t know.

I always suspect cables and connectors. The one electrical problem I’ve had with a printer was an A1 with a dead AMS Lite. It turns out the connector on the back of the A1 was funky and the cable was not making a connection. Fixed with a bit of twiddling the contacts.

Did you replace parts one at a time, and return the original if the problem persisted? I wouldn’t want to just add new parts because they could come with problems of their own. Just because they were new, don’t automatically assume they were good. That’s what I meant by “introducing other variables”.

Agreed mate. I am just off to sleep. Will reply fully tomorrow.

Thanks

This error message indicates a problem with the fan attached to the hotend. Either purchase a complete hotend assembly or a replacement fan. I have seen this several times, and changing anything else will not help resolve this error.

. I am just off to sleep. Will reply fully tomorrow.

But the issue started showing its self witjh symtoms of partial clog on a long print with 12 parts the same on one print.

It started to print like lattice work.

I fitted a new hotend complete and started a self test. Part way through that i got hotend fan is abnormal.

Thanks

I have changed complete hotend twice and 4 fans.
