X1C - Slowing the speed in which it prints

Sometimes slower is better when printing as you can get better quality and detail. I’ve heard this comment before and would like to try this theory, but when printing an object using PLA I would like to know the Bambu Studio fields that I need to be changed to slow the print speed down. Right now I’m printing at the default speeds that the Generic PLA filament set up. I’m also using the 0.2 @ BBC Standard under Global Settings. I know I can just modify an existing global profile but still need to know what fields I should change and what will they do when changed. I know changing the volumetric value will slow the flow but is it as simple as cutting the value in half to make it print at half the original speed.

There is a setting inside Studio that is called “silent mode” It will only activate “after” printing is started. This can be maddening for two reasons, first is that you click it and it doesn’t appear to respond, the second is that even after you click it and it responds, you can often find the printer resetting itself, so you’ll have to monitor it to make sure it sticks. The other annoying thing is that you can’t make it the default.

You can also access it from the panel controller on the printer.

Silent mode will make “all” print movements 50% of actual speed.

If you want more granular control over the kinds of movement and actual speed, that can be found in the Speed settings and can be saved with your project. The benefit is the amount of control and what kinds of movement you will control. So as opposed to the silent mode which slows everything, you can only affect things like outer wall, first layer etc.

I will try this 50% thing first but can say I’ve never seen this screen either in Studio or on the printer screen. Anything I need to do to activate it? I am running the latest firmware on the printer and the latest version of Studio.

Device tab, Control section. Click on speedo icon near lamp icon.
Or similar on printer’s touch screen …
