X1Plus expansion board for X1 Carbon

Just bumping to the top. Funding ends in a week and then they move to production.

Thanks for the bump! Hopefully this will go out in a Crowd Supply e-mail later today, but just literally an hour ago the samples of the nearly-final version of the wiring harness appeared on my doorstep. Big improvement from the original version. Here, have some photos:

Please I beg of you, make one for the P1S . I need ethernet wired connection.

That’s an interesting project. But why did you attach the board to the front of the printer? That means you have a lot of cables hanging around the front of the printer. Wouldn’t it be better to run the cable for the information you need from the X1C to the back and attach the electronics there (or just put them separately)? Then you don’t have all the cables for network, USB, etc. hanging around the front and everything looks much tidier.

Please tell me you guys have plans to make an H2D version of this. Right now, it seems like the engineers at Bambu had the bright idea to repeat the predecessor’s shortcomings.

The current firmware version won’t make it possible at this time… but keep your hopes up… perhaps with one of the next firmware updates a jail-breaking opportunity might arise.

Probably not. I am on the ragged edge of burnout with this project  I just spent my morning running Andon Modules through the test jig and I still have to go eat lunch. If H2D is hacked, it will have to be by someone else… there are other things I want to move on to!

I am heartbroken and flabbergasted that Bambu hates their customer base this much. I don’t understand why something so seemingly simple is denied unless we pay a premium for the enterprise edition.

I appreciate the quick response. I wish it were different but if that’s the case i might be forced to wait for the H2DE inevitably since my work place will demand the printers are WPA 3 compatible. Your mod was the perfect workaround for our existing X1C so it gave me a glimmer of hope.

How do you know when a group of people is not the target market? When any and all of their suggestions are totally ignored. Not even just ignored, but actively resisted, and maybe even resented. Consistently over time. Every time. Then you know. I think by now we have metaphysical certainty that probably nobody reading following this thread is in the target market. Good, bad, or indifferent, that’s just how it is. If nothing else, it’s better to know that than not so you don’t have expectations that are never met. You can plan accordingly to either accept it or not.

This is what really burns.

I’m used to being in an ignored market because my choice of OS happens to be one that isn’t enshittified.

Ultimately, it’s just frustrating given that the WIFI board is not that expensive of a component; especially for Ethernet ports. The H2D has an odd design change with them replacing the microSD slot for a USB-A slot. However the USB-A slot they have in the H2D can’t even be used for bridging a computer to the printer. It’s meant for reading a USB thumb drive. (This is 2025 did we fall back into 2008?) I am just confused about these seemingly simple design changes that they don’t seem to care engineer in their latest flagship model.

Meanwhile they improved dramatically with the AMS - 2s engineering especially when dealing with clogged or jammed filaments. (You don’t have to take the entire thing apart which is heck of a QoL improvement on top of the humidity control.)

I understand what you mean. For better or worse, I get the sense that Bambu wants only Bambu firmware/software controlling the H2D and that Bambu views the possibility of anything else doing so as a security threat. This is consistent with Bambu’s public statements regarding the X1C firmware imbroglio a couple months ago, where Bambu has disallowed even Orca slicer from any kind of direct control.

You will have to wait for an H2E to get Ethernet ports haha
