X1Plus Firmware Website

was one of the first thousand ppl to test this fw. first it was cool to have more tools and such. but stuff fall apart after some time, first the log system would not report anything else than “cancelled” status. stopping my option to vote on makerworld.

then the bed visualizer stopped giving a report after bed mesh calibration complete box was clicked on. then there is the issue of the bed is allowed to ram the bottom and top of its travel and skip the belts so the machine whines… glad i stepped only three presses at a time. (my bad, but still, it should know where there bed is when its homed imo)

conclusion. not needed at all this. perhaps if bl could implement some of these functions and have them actually work on a reliable basis would be interesting. but not enough to give away warranty for imo.

I’ve been using X1Plus for about three months and have experienced none of those issues. Everything has worked for me without fault.

I can’t speak to Makerworld integration, I don’t use it.

The bed visualizer works great and makes precise levelling much easier than using a feeler gauge or estimating when the nozzle is “just touching”. I’ve always received a report, and the reports are also saved for future reference on the SD card. It is interesting to compare the results at different bed temperatures.

With the stock firmware, trying to use the motion controls without first homing the head generates a warning with every button press. Stock choices are Home or Close. If you are persistent and keep closing the warning, you can ram into the stops.

X1Plus works exactly the same, but it also offers a third choice, Ignore. Ignore turns off the warning, allowing you to tap the motion controls repeatedly without warnings. That can save some time, but it is up to you to respect the limits and not do something dumb.

Or, you can home the head. If you home the head, you will not be able to exceed the travel limits.

X1Plus has also added an indicator to show the “homed” status.

The red-outlined home icon turns a solid green after homing. The X1Plus developers are restricted in what they can do because motor control is still part of the closed source Bambu firmware.

I don’t see X1Plus as a complete firmware, it is more of an enhanced interface for the base Bambu firmware. So, I agree, it is not necessary. It is just nice to have.

X1Plus now has a VNC server, so that the touch screen can be seen and used from a remote computer. I’m not sure how, or if, I will use it, but it definitely adds a cool feature.

If nothing else, it will be handy for capturing screen shots.
I’m using MobaXterm as my client app for FTP, SSH, and now, VNC.

Edit: Works well to toggle LAN-only mode from my office, fewer treks out to the shop!

Great that it worked fine for you. Like i wrote buddy; it worked fine at the beginning. Then it started to fail in several ways. Did reinstalls and updates as the wiki says. Guess im just on of those that got a wierd combo of hw.

Apparently these machines are not alike despite the same name. They can have different types of hw from what i have read on support forums. I mean, they tried to assist but we did not get it working like it should.

The bed rammed the floor of the printer man… i did not close any message. U get that message if the printer is not homed only i believe, correct me if im wrong.

Mine was finished a print 2 minutes before and i was cleaning the z rods. Had to flip the power switch to save the belts

Also there is the “lastest firmware” issue where BL will make the update then you will have to wait for Jon and the team to catch up and release their update. Since they work basically for free from what i can understand and its more like a hobby or project for them.

This hinders one from using the latest bells and whistles u know?

At least the printer is running like it should again with stock fw, but i must say the that i miss the bed fine leveling bit with the map. When i think twice that map was a bit hard to read when it got down to the 0.01 steps, the contrast was very low in the colors and i remember taking pictures and dumping them in PS to filter the image.:joy:

These beds can me trammed to 0.00 deviation if you try as many times as i did.:beers:

Happy priting and may all your first layers be gucci

Watch this and it may be better explained… https://youtu.be/2GW7tUpAVj4?si=SSQcAlvMBgHddbgy

Replying to myself, months later…

I just tried to send a print from my office to the X1C in the shop. Studio says No Printer. Hmmm… pretty sure I left it turned on. Yeah, I can ping it.

The VNC server lets me access the screen controls from my PC, X1 network test says network and internet access is good. Cloud is down? Switch to LAN only, there it is!

Problem solved in less time than it would take to walk to the shop.
