To start, I’m new to 3D printing having just purchased the P2S about two weeks ago and then exchanging for the X2D yesterday (fortunately I was in my return window). So I have LOTS to learn!
Even though I only used the P2S for a short time, the one thing I’ve been surprised about in using the X2D since yesterday is the chamber exhaust fan seems loud. I’ve been printing mostly in PETG and have done a couple PLA prints and the chamber exhaust fan seems to run at a minimum of 70%. While when I measure decibels it isn’t all that loud (about 54db from 5 feet away), the constant fan noise seems to add a lot of noise that the P2S didn’t have.
In the few YouTube videos I watched from people who received early units, they seemed to mention it is supposed to be slightly quieter than the P2S but with the exhaust fan that has not been my experience.
Since I’m new to all of this, I am hoping someone can give me some info on whether it is necessary for the exhaust fan to run that high, are there settings that I can/should adjust, etc. Right now I don’t have the exhaust fan hooked up to vent out a window or even tubed to another filter so I’m not sure it’s necessary to have it running.
Anyway, I’ve searched a lot and can’t seem to find any information that I found useful, even from Bambu Lab Wiki. I’m hoping the great people of the Bambu forum can educate me!
Did you insert that fan case properly and checked all 6 conenction points? Go to filament and make it run at 40%. my rear fan is set to 70% but is is super quiet, I can hear the inside fans but not the one at the back.
The exhaust fan is not very quiet! Printing PETG, it (exhaust only) runs on 90% (AUTO), tuning it down to 50-60% on the screen of the printer, equals the noise level it makes with the rest of the printer/the other fans, while the noise level overall the printer makes, is cut in half!
So, yeah, printing PETG and manually tuning the exhaust down to 50%, the X2D is silent, suprisingly silent…
Would have been the cherry on top of a very nice printer if this 50% setting is default without me setting it for every filament/print i run …
I’ve never known it any differently with my X1C and H2C.
As soon as the case or the additional fan exceeds 60-70%, both devices sound like a fighter jet is landing next to me.
Normally, the H2C is “quiet,” and the X1C is tolerable, let’s put it that way.
In Bambu Studio there is NO option for the exhaust fan in the filament “Cooling”, you have to turn down the fan for every print you start by walking to the printer an changing the exhaust fan on the display to 50-60%, if you want to save a few dB …
Go to Printer Settings, check “Air Filtration Enhancement”, then under Filament Cooling you will have a new option “Active Air Filtration”, where you can enable during-print filtration and complete-print filtration, both set to 70% by default.
