Hi all, I grabbed a X2C on release and sold off my P2S…and I have to say, this machine is nowhere near as polished as the P2S. More capable for sure, but man, I hope the next few firmware updates sort out the numerous random bugs and annoyances…
Anyway, it occasionally throws a heatbed + chamber temp fault and pauses print, and says the problem may be that the ‘AC Board’ is broken. Sometimes I can ignore the warning, sometimes I have to power cycle the machine…
I would run 1 test with a nice ventilation around to check out if that is the problem, I have my room at around 21C but after gigantic prints in ABS the temperature around the printer is very high so I just put a fan pointing to it when I run multiple days prints
Assuming it is the firmware, that is what comes with having a new machine. Somebody has to be the ones to test this thing. They are usually sorted out later.
Yeah I was leaning towards it not being a hardware issue since it only happens in the start gcode sequence, and never during a print. I put a thermocouple probe in the machine to check temps and they were satisfactorily close.
I got a P2S on release, and now the X2D I got on release too, I would have expected the P2S to be more buggy than the X2D, which is essentially an evolution of the P2S…
Other minor issues with my X2D:
-Left side panel has deformed from the chamber heater.
-When browsing my models in the printer cache/SD card, the order is jumbled, so if I have a few versions of a part I’ve modeled, sliced and sent to the machine…It’s a crapshoot to pick which version is the latest, so I have to go back to the PC and print from Bambu Studio.
-Unloading extruders has to be done one at a time….It’s painfully slow. I’m sure it could be staggered.
-Vision encoder doesn’t display any actual results, unlike H series machines…I paid for the damn plate, I want to see results…
-If items can be skipped in the printer UI, then they could also have the print order changed. No option for that.
-I wish they would change the 4 step speed control to something a bit more variable, even a step in between. I do miss my old machines which could adjust speed in 1% increments…And the same for flow rate.
-Quiet hours. Automatically mute the printer notification sounds etc. during certain hours…I quite like the printer alert sounds, but not at 3AM…lol.
I have configured my mobile phone to enter quiet mode as soon as it is connected to the charger in the night, which is usually when I go sleeping. Maybe that works for you too?
I don’t think this that easy. In my understanding, the gcode has some marks, which section belongs to which item. When you skip an item it simply skips all those sections. But rearranging those sections would be a whole different story. I think actually the printers are quite stupid and just execute the gcode line by line. The intelligence is all in the slicer.

I am talking about the machine itself, not Bambu handy, which gives me notifications a good 30 minutes late…Useless.. The tones (the machine itself) emits are pretty handy, especially if I’m nearby doing an unrelated task and it needs me to do something. But if a print finishes at 3am, there is no way to stop this unless I have it completely disabled. My partner would smother me with her pillow.

Are you sure?
Yes the machine is just blindly reading gcode while printing, but the skip function indicates that there is some clever software in the machine itself.
If you have sliced by layer (not by object) and are printing two of the same item, and you ‘skip’, it has to edit the gcode and remove half of the lines interlaced between other lines.
That’s a lot of change, and quite impressive that it works.
If you slice by object and print, the gcode sections are sequential, more or less, and I would think it is easier for the machine to switch order than the shenanigans in the above paragraph. The collision checks have already been done in the slicing…So my pea brain can’t really see why this wouldn’t work.
Oh, I misunderstood that. Didn’t notice any sounds from the X1C yet Is that a new feature in the X2D?
Quite sure. It doesn’t have to edit the gcode: The slicer embraces every contiguous set of moves belonging to one object by a section. So when the print switches from object A to object B within one layer → new section B. On the next layer starting with object A → new section A. moving over to object B → new section B. That way all moves are assigned to an object via the sections.
When you skip object A, it just has to look out for a section start. Is it in the list of skipped objects? then just ignore the following gcode until you find the next section. The according object is not skipped? Then execute the gcode until the next section start. And so on.
In my opinion, changing object sequence belongs into the slicer, not the printer. What is your motivation for doing it while a print is running?
I’m not following the logic. If it can skip half the Section A/Section B to skip an entire object, why can’t it reverse the order of SectionA/Section B that it prints the objects?
My reason is my PC is in the house, and my printer is in the garage. Going upstairs to reslice is annoying.
It’s 60 steps from my office desktop to the printer in the shop, so I know how annoying that trek can be. My solution has been to use Remote Desktop on an obsolete PC in the shop. By itself, it is too old and slow for most uses, but the RDP client requires few resources, and the screen/keyboard/mouse gives me full access to all the processing power, programs, and data of the office PC.
Windows Pro has the RDP server built-in, but there are similar remote computing solutions that work on phones, tablets, and computers using any operating system. (I’ve tried using my phone, but my finger is too fat.)
I am experiencing the Heatbed + Chamber heater problem on X2D as well. After 1 month of everyday printing without single issue, this alert started to show up. On my X2D, first alert was just after finished printjob. Exhaust fan turned on automatically with the Heatbed Malfunction alert, maybe with intetion to cool the area. I followed steps on the screen - machine itself thinks the AC board is faulty. To test it, I had to power off the printer to cool down the buildplate, then power it back on and check the heatbed for abnormal heating, but it was cold. After this power cycle, alert is gone and I can print. It happened randomly 3 more times, everytime after finished printjob, with chamber heater malfunction side by side , so I opened a ticket in Bambu handy - support replied in 4 hours. I had to disassemble the printer and check the AC board for loosen faston connections of the heatbed and PTC (chamber heater element) but they seemed secure to me. I reconnected them, as I was instructed and assembled the machine back to normal. 4 days later it happened again - but now MID PRINT in the night. It happened at 65% of the 6 hour print. I reopened the ticket in Bambu handy and they are sending me AC board replacement.
I am afraid it is the FW issue rather faulty AC board, so the replacement of the AC board will cost me at best 2 hours of my life with no real results. If the AC board was faulty, the alert should be permanent and consistent even after power cycle, but it dissapears. To replace the AC board on X2D, you need to remove the main control board and cables as well. I am mentally preparing for it.
Oh man. I feel your pain. It has been…At least 5 weeks of this ■■■■ and I’m done. I think it’s a wiring issue, as it’s random. I have had this machine apart 6 times now…that’s 10 hours+. I’ve replaced the AC board, MC board and quadruple checked all connections and checked sensors with a multimeter…But it keeps going into fault.
It’s been 6 days now since I have received a response, Bambu has ghosted me. I am so disappointed.
I had 2 friends and my brother all eager to see the results of the X2D, and they have all now decided against purchasing.
I’m going to push for a return and refund and look into tool changer machines from another manufacturer. My Bambu ownership days are over. Terrible company.
A generic temperature fault with no other info, but only at the beginning of the print. That sounds like a safety check sees it as heating up too fast. (My Prusa had these errors when I first installed a Revo hotend: the firmware threw errors because its behavior didn’t match its model.) It could help to try slowing the heating by opening the door or lid a little bit to bleed off some warm air. But maybe you’ve tried something like this. Anyway I agree this sounds like a firmware issue.
As for other X2D issues, I wonder if they rushed this to market and didn’t shake it down enough. I’ve only dealt with aux filament path issues so far, and came up with my own solution, but lots of folks won’t bother: they expect plug-n-play.
I’ve put thermocouple probes on the bed, in the chamber etc and nothing is abnormal. I’ve tested the machine thermistors and they correlate to the chart temp/resistance values. It’s either software, or a wiring harness fault. The AC and MC boards have been replaced.
I don’t doubt that all the hardware is correct, but wonder if the firmware is expecting different behavior (i.e. slower heating) than it sees. Forcing it to heat up more slowly might be illustrative.
I think I found the issue. The printer threw the fault whilst printing, so I yanked the door open and started twiddling cables. The chamber temperature toggled between 0 and 35 degrees celcius. So there is an intermittent fault.
Between this ongoing saga and Bambu Studio ‘forgetting’ my custom tuned filament profiles that I spent hours making…
It’s like the reprap days of 3 hours of tweaking for 1 hour printing.
