So, I was thinking about setting up a TPU assist on my X2D (when the module is back in stock)
My thoughts were as follows:
External spool/dryer→ TPU assist module –> 4 way splitter –> main nozzle port.
This would allow me to use the assist for TPU, but bypassing it for when I need the external spool for something else, like CF filaments or other stuff that dont work in the AMS
This would save me disconnecting anything to swap between stuff.
The module would offcource need to be a bit further out than the normal mounts, but thats a quick CAD job to make that change.
Does anyone have any experience with a similar setup/reasons not to do it?
Would it cause too much drag? (I would either get the old 4 ways splitter, or remove the cleaners from the new)
Some of the very low resistance Y splitters would work I would think. I have one inside my H2 and once I got the location right for the angle of the tubes it’s been working fine. I used a simple friction tube holder without any connectors. The best ones I have used are printed horizontally not vertically. I took one apart after a lot of hours of abrasive filaments and it looked pretty good inside with minimal wear.
I know this thread is old, but this is basically how I just setup mine. 4-1 splitter right off the main extruder inlet. One port for the buffer/ams, one for the tpu assist, and 2 others for whatever else I need (super stiff filaments maybe).
