When passing between infills in the same layer during infilling, it sometimes does not rise in the z-axis. I experience this in almost every print and this causes the nozzle to rub against the print. Is there a setting for this or is this a slicer bug?
I am attaching the detailed video below, while it rises on the z axis at first, it does not rise afterwards. It can also be clearly seen in G codes.
I tried the settings you shared, but it didnât work. It was fixed when I turned off the setting in the picture I attached. Is there any harm in turning this off? What are the disadvantages?
It sounds like you are using a crossing infill. You may want to go for non-crossing infills (Gyroid, Honeycomb,âŚ) and non-crossing surfaces (Monotonic, Concentric,âŚ).
In addittion, you may want to enable âwipeâ visible in @R3d-Five screenshot.
I already use gyroid as a fill pattern.
Apart from that, enabling wipe was not a solution because it does not wipe during the rubbed transition (the second part in the video I shared). When I turn off the âReduce Infill Retractionâ setting in the image I added in response to @R3d-Five, it also retracts during the rubbed pass, so it rises on the z axis and there is no rubbing on the print. I just wasnât sure if turning off the âReduce Infill Retractionâ setting would cause a problem.
No, it seems like it is solving the problem. Based on how the setting works you are sacrificing a small amount of time for the desired result, no plowing the nozzle through infill. I suspect you left on the Z-Hop setting because the two settings appear to work in combination to provide the desired result.
Since Reduce Infill Retraction reduces retraction in some places during infilling, it does not retract where it reduces retraction and this prevents it from z-hop. This actually causes it to rub against the print. I think this setting is one of the important settings overlooked. I think it is also a problem that this setting is on by default. I also think it is a bit ridiculous to take the risk of lifting the print off the bed in order to save time.
