I tried to find something that said one way or the other, but my one account/profile/makes currently on makerworld are very niche, I would like to make completely different models, is it okay to have 2 different makerworld accounts as long as they’re not interacting with each other? I don’t want to lose points on either account or lose both accounts. Thanks!
Makerworld seems to discourage multiple accounts from the same IP due to concerns about gaming the points system. A potential solution could be introducing “Personas” under a single account. For example, a user like JJTechPrints could have additional Personas for different content, such as “DarkWingDuck” for nsfw duck-themed uploads.
The upload form could include a dropdown called ‘Upload as…’ for selecting a Persona.
An “Anonymous” Persona could also allow for privacy while keeping everything tied to the main account internally. This setup could streamline creativity while maintaining accountability. Thoughts?
Once again, more moderating needed with clear guidelines, make’s no sense someone would get good models flagged for being on other account, they wont even have to pay as often if if points are divided to multiple accounts, even more so, many have spouses within same household, how come only one can post IDK.
I’d love this. Plus families could have a persona for each kid to download models on (it could have separate history/profiles for downloading too), but points and everything would be synced.
Maybbe @MakerWorld can try what Netflix does, which is to allow multiple profiles under one account.
Have a rule that says profiles cannot boost, rate, comment on the models/print profiles that are from the account under which they are in. Downloading of the models in their account also don’t count.
If it’s only about finding a better way to show different types of models under one account, there can be another way to do it. Here’s a thread that I commented on not log ago.
This should be day one supported. Me, my wife and now my daughter, we all use different accounts and they only have 1 printer available (yes, the others are mine! All mine! ) and we are always afraid that one day it will trigger something server side and we all get punished because of that. We don’t “game the system” because we don’t touch each others models, at least not from makerworld. If they want to print something i made, they put the file on the sd card and print it.
But still, this should be a thing. Same IP, same household. It’s a normal thing. I imagine if games punished users for playing online in the same household, under the same ip…
@MakerWorld make it happen PLEASE! I said please this time
I have a fair few nsfw designs on cults and it’ll probably stay that way tbh
MakerWorld just doesn’t seem like the place for it.
Even if they introduced personas or something like that, any way of tying my passionate and fun designs on here to my nsfw stuff would not be appreciated
I knew your models instantly when I saw this post/account, so you bring up a really great point. You’ve created a very on-brand, well marketed niche, and without a way to subdivide you do kind of lose that vibe a lot. It’s one of the weak areas I think we could have improved around here, creating space/categories/features that are geared more towards the arts and crafts world.
Related, have you ever considered making soap molds? My mom creates custom bars of soap using “soap dough” and molds, she’s made a few extrusion dies and molds for that and I think your stuff would translate well in that direction too.
I believe another topic that could alleviate the need for two or more accounts is a topic that was discussed a few weeks ago related to the layout of the Maker’s Page. Essentially there are times when as a designer, we want to upload some items that are not on theme with the rest of our content. This layout suggested by @Zammer3D is spot on and it looks like the MW team is taking it into consideration.
I wouldn’t take the risk doing that.
There are no good written rules about what is allowed, and what isn’t. Yet the Bambu judges sometimes give penalties that were unforeseen and pretty hard, and they won’t give you an answer if you ask why you got the penalty.
For me, I have models that I share here on MakerWorld, and models that I share on other website, and I won’t mix the two.
Thanks! I’ve worked really hard to build my brand so it’s good to know that’s recognized <3 I haven’t! I don’t know anything about soap/soap molds and I actually believe this might be my first time hearing about them. I haven’t created any new models in some time but maybe something I could look into when I’ve gotten things settled. All of my uploads are from when I was selling clay cutters, and I have over 500 files so it’s taking me some time to upload them.
