WTF Dudes? pls allowe Free generating like before… Now i can HOPE the AI does the job right before i have to pay for it…
It’s outrageous! Before, it cost 2 points when you downloaded the file, now you pay more than 20 points before even knowing if what the AI will give you is any good. It’s fine to pay 20 points or more, but only when you’re about to download it, not before. I already wasted 50 points because the AI didn’t generate the 3D properly; it generated garbage.
let them tank it all, dont use the tools if they are that greedy
If you have any of the listed graphics card generations, you can run it locally on your PC for free as often as you like. If someone really needs that all the time, they should just get a used GTX 1080 and that’s that…
Or, if someone want to keep it simple: Just earn a few points on MakerWorld and use them for the AI. You can really rack up those 80 points super fast. You can actually earn that in no time through the Bambu Academy Rewards program.
Anyone who pays real money for that… well… apparently there are enough people who do…
Go find another website that allows nearly free 3d mesh ai generation. You won’t find one.
I think the way Bambu implemented this stuff initially was flawed. They should have corrected it sooner.
I’d rather the budgets for rewarding our community not be spent on AI bills.
The AI tools in makerlab are crazy subsidized to begin with.
Even with the new prices, they are easily 5 times cheaper.
Even just something like the Meshy tool is around 30 USD a month for unlimited.
Flawed in the way that there was virtually no usage limits.
Pretty good in all the other aspects.
It was a multi-million dollar subsidy which MW can’t do it anymore. Read this article for more info. https://makerworld.com/community/post/1800905
Yes, the money could have been used to help creators to make original models.
They forgot to post the other graph:
It demonstrates the quality of the 3D models and of MakerWorld itself, since it was flooded with AI.
Charging users this much before they even know whether the AI-generated model is usable is a bad move.
I understand increasing the price for downloading or exporting a finished model. That would at least make sense: the user sees the result, decides it is worth keeping, and pays for it.
But charging a large amount at the generation stage completely changes the experience. AI generation is unpredictable. Sometimes the result is useful, but sometimes it is broken, ugly, inaccurate, or simply not what was requested. In that case, the user has already paid for a failed attempt.
This does not feel like a fair pricing adjustment. It feels like pushing the risk of bad AI output onto your own customers.
I used to have a much better opinion of Bambu Studio / MakerWorld, because it felt like a creator-friendly ecosystem. This change makes it feel the opposite. Instead of encouraging people to experiment and create, it makes every attempt feel like a gamble.
Please reconsider this pricing model. Charge for successful exports, downloads, or final usable results — not for blind AI attempts that may produce nothing worth using.
If this continues, many creators will simply stop using the feature. Right now, this feels less like supporting creators and more like monetizing failed generations.
While our team is actively reviewing submissions, some inevitably slip through the cracks

That’s just how every 3D AI modelling site works. Why? Because you’re using up processing power.
Otherwise, it could be misused and new models could constantly be generated without being downloaded or paid for. If it’s displayed in your browser, for example, there are ways to download it without paying.
It should be clear to everyone - not just with regard to MakerWorld - that the days of affordable or even free AI are over. Data centres are incredibly expensive, and at some point companies are going to want to generate revenue from them.
It was already cross-subsidised and was a money-losing venture. Regular customers were paying part of the bill, whether they used the service or not. Actually, that’s a really good move, because otherwise it was always the regular customers who had to pay - with every printer purchase, every filament purchase, and so on.
As previously stated, whether or not you download it is not the issue; the generation is the part that costs money. In that case, Bambu has definitely made the right decision. It’s disappointing for customers who want to use AI, but it’s a good reason to celebrate for all regular customers.
It’s also worth noting that MakerWorld AI’s are still extremely cheap - almost free - if you pay with MW points.
I think this is the standard for the industry because the cost lies within the generation & that cost is consistent regardless of results.
For example, if you ask Claude a question and it burns a bunch of tokens generating a low-quality response, you don’t get to choose not to pay for it after the fact.
The previous setup was wildly generous so it makes sense that adjustments will be needed over time.
And at least there is no monthly plan to pay in the maker lab. At the AI tools websites you have to have a monthly plan ín order to generate high quality models. I think that sucks even more that pay per use. I also guess with shortage of resources in AI also there the plan will more and more changed to token-based pricing. It is already the case for Claude Fable starting with next week.
there will be more and more messed up models with this system, people will generate 1 and upload it without even trying to fix it
Do you happen to have a link to any set up instructions please, i have the RTX 4090 24gb card and would like to give this a try, thank you.
If you want to keep things easy, just install this interface, and from there you can download various AI’s and workflows. Advantage: It’s the desktop version, so you don’t have to deal with any other external installations. I recommend this as a first step.
If you’re thinking, “Oh, I don’t want all that extra stuff,” then here’s a good alternative: a ready-made installation package just for creating 3D models, but with only this one AI to choose from. Overall, the installation is a bit more complicated. In return, you get a streamlined interface that is much easier to use and focuses on the essentials.
