These work on the external spool holder as-is, or in an AMS if placed on a reuseable spool.
The price is right, but it’s only 1/3 of the colors. Probably better off just ordering the sample chips then the colors you really want.
Probably intended as a starter sample pack for new people for their new printer so they will have more than that measly 20g piece of white that BL gives them to start with.
Exactly - it’s actually an optional “add-on” when you buy a new printer.
The old starter set, which is still available, consists of only 4 different filaments.
The new set, on the other hand, offers a wide selection of colors.
Now, if we compare the prices - not the sale prices:
- Old set - 4 kg for $91.96 USD - per kg 22,99
- New set - 3 kg for $54.99 USD - per kg 18,33
So the new set is significantly cheaper. Of course, this is also due to the fact that there are no reusable spools included. I assume it probably replaces the old starter pack that you could order as an option with the A1 series.
Been there, done that. Running out of places to hide it all. I’m now double parking my filaments. ![]()
Then you didnt need to buy it anyways, so there is no reason to complain.
You make it sound like you live in a shoe box. For most of us, having 50 to 100 kg of filament on hand is no big deal.
I bought 22 rolls of PETG-HF while I could still get it. I had to get clever and artful with stacking it away. Have to print a bunch now to make room for more.
Not meaning to gatekeep but shipping costs not really the topic, guys…
All fairness, the topic dried up after the first 3 posts. Some people just really like free shipping I guess.
For the actual topic, I think the 250g spools are nice, but they are in the most basic of colors that anyone is going to buy anyways at some point. I don’t think you need to “trial” grey, black, and white when most people will just buy a whole spool. This may be for some, but not for me (in a theoretical sense if I was brand new).
If they continue to go down this track, I would prefer to see 100g samples for the more unique types and colors before buying a full spool.
Something like what Protopasta does.
It would be great if they would offer these smaller samples in other materials also. That way, it would be possible fo try new filaments without having to buy a full spool, just to find out you don’t like it. Thinking, they just brought out the PETG Basic. Let me sample them to see if I like them before committing to buying 10, 1 kg spools. Or to learn about ABS/ASA/PA/PC, without a huge investment.
