You guys! It’s here! I finally got it published. I’ve got some extra work to do, but all the main print profiles and the main assembly instructions are up.

A few photos to show off the controller a little closer up. I have this idea in my head that with every Cyberbrick project I approach, I want a custom controller for it. I think the controller is part of the experience, especially for a model like this. I wanted something that made you feel like a crane operator, that pulled you further into it, into the fun.
Ahh, I need to take a few more photos of the battery bay with the latch. It uses a spring plunger, and has a nicely satisfying click to it as you rotate it into and out of position.
I also incorporated a charging port! No having to disconnect the battery!

I appreciate the work done in making this, there was a lot, but it’s ethically like selling ferrari car models without paying ferrari. At least change the name.
Well, it’s not an exact replica, it’s a homage to the original 4100w. (I made a number of changes to the model for various reason) The 4100w name isn’t copyrighted or trademarked as far as I can find. The crane itself hasn’t been produced since the 90s.
Regardless, I went ahead and changed it to 42W.

Hello, I had a quick couple questions. I think I might be over looking what material, and a rough amount of rigging was used for the crane cables. Do you have a certain brand or material you use?
I still gotta get the description fully flushed out! So you didn’t over look anything.
I’m using 1mm braided fishing line. (This one). With 100m of line, it was enough for two cranes, roughly.
Also, I saw your comment on Makerworld. I’m surprised only the magnets were out of stock! I’ve been watching stock levels as I built the BOM. There were a lot more things out of stock. Luckily with the magnets, those can be sourced elsewhere easily enough.

Yeah I usually never get that lucky when ordering things, but I did outsource the magnets from Amazon. Just to make sure the link you click on for makerworld with add hardware to cart list, that is basically the amount and all bolt needed. Is that how that works? I only been printing for a couple weeks now and only thing I really been working on is my droid division b1. So not sure about how parts work through makerworld. Thanks again for the response.
More or less. They don’t sell exact amounts. So like with screws, most of them come in packs of 20. So, you’ll end up with extras. Hopefully I got everything listed correctly!

I added a table to the description that gives the hardware breakdown and the filament usage breakdown. The hardware one goes a bit further than I can reasonably take a screenshot of, haha.

I’m not a lawyer, but I can’t imagine that you violated any rules. I’m not sure how it’s any different from making a Ford T-Model likeness and calling it “Model T”.

That’s why I set this thread up! I’m most active on the forums here, and this is a big project. I’ve assembled several of these cranes now, know the design intent, so it’s really easy for me. I have no idea how the build experience is going to be for others though, so wanted to provide a spot where we could work any issues out, have that information collected in a central spot for others too.

Before we judge another user, it pays to do the research ourselves and see if any copyrights / trademarks and/or patents have actually been broken. If not, then it’s a tip of the hat to a bit of history. But frankly, I doubt the original company would mind a 3D print being made of their machine. I mean… FREE ADVERTISING. ;D

WOW! this appears to be the most complete documentation I’ve seen for a model in a long time. I am getting right back into making after a few years hiatus. Currently assembling a Liebbherr 1750 which I though was well documented until now (it has some info missing though, such as revving). I was thinking how I might be able it incorporate hardware I already have on hand and not installed in other (unfinished) projects but I’m starting to thinking I’ll throw caution to the wind and just go the whole hog and follow the BOM as printed. I’m tempted to just start printing parts with materials I have and see what happens.
Great job so far. I’m looking forward to this challenge.
I’ve been thinking a bit about live streaming a build of the crane. I could then edit that into a more focused video for the assembly. I’ve waffled back and forth on the idea a bit. Mostly because it makes me nervous/anxious, haha. I don’t feel 100% comfortable on video yet.
I wanted the project as a whole to be up there with the level of quality you expect from 3dsets! I tweaked a bunch of little things with how my documentation is done. I hope it’s all clear enough. Like I mentioned previously, I’ve assembled several of these now, so it’s easy and straight forward to me. I’m waiting on the edge of my seat to see how it goes for others.
It’ll give you some extra screws too for all my other crazy projects. 
Although, the screws used for the booms are right at the limit of what’s supplied, so you might want some extra M2x6, 8, and 10s, if you want a extra boom section.
Nice! I assume you mean GIORDAN_3D_CANTU’s model. It’s an impressive model!
I love these big lattice boom cranes. I have a diecast 4100w Ringer crane, which is what inspired me to eventually do this model. I thought maybe down the road doing a Ringer upgrade for this model. There’s a luffing jib I didn’t get done for this too. If I had crowdfunded it, I think I would have set those as stretch goals. Hopefully down the road I get a chance to revisit those things though.

Great job you did. I have one question: on MakerWorld, only the controller files are available. Maybe I missed something, but I cannot find the files for the crane itself. Will they be posted later. Maybe you can give me any hint on how to get the files.
