It would be absolutely fabulous if there was a way to add a feature that allowed you to cancel out a specific model on the build plate, when you have multiple prints on the build plate at once. I had a 20hr print 80% done, when I had one model come loose out of 15 on the plate. I just let it finish, risking popping another loose but didn’t. This feature would not need to be used very often, but if and when it did, it would save the headache of potentially needed to cancel a print, wasting time and money on filament.
This has been requested several times. Hopefully, it is something they are working on as I think it would be a great feature.
The only way I could see this working is if one told the slicer to print by object and there were tags in the Gcode that the firmware could use to identify which object to skip over. Otherwise, it’s all just a series of moves and the printer has no clue about objects.
It can be achieved by layer as well if the slicer injects information of the next object in line prior movement from one object to the other. I don’t have first hands on, but know that Klipper and OctoPi is capable to perform it.
You’re right, it has been suggested several times. I didn’t know if I should make a whole new post for this feature.
I have only had the need for this feature once, in the months of using the X1C. But, once was all it took for me to realize the benefit for such. I know there is a plugin on Cura for this. I’m sure it has been requested in the 3D community enough to justify. I know I’ll need it again one of these days.
I totally agree! It is a feature that would be helpful and most will, at some point appreciate having it as an option.
I was just writing this request myself when it showed me this thread. I agree, would be a great feature to have.
