A new take on theft, they lifted my words and my written 'voice'

Update - MW upheld my report and took the other model down.

Some of you may know, that I design and upload a LOT of designs. Many of them are in themes. Some are successful, others are not, some are extremely successful (hello Fidget Gyros and Spinners), and some have a small but loving audience.

My Hero collections, that span; Fidget Spinners, coasters, keyrings and passthrough.

I have had people steal my designs before, some very dodgy profiles added, but, this one is new to me, though I doubt for some of you.

I noticed this after I added my latest entry in the Hero Vortex Passthroughs range. I have many prototypes and upload-ready hero members of the four main ranges (thus far), so many that I have a couple of weeks’ worth if I only upload one hero per day into each range.

See if you can spot any similarities.

This is my model that uses a spiral, cylinder, and a spiderman logo shape to twist satisfyingly together into place, I would recommend no brim but normal tree supports which can be easily taken out with plyers supports are recommended when printing my spiderman fidget cylinder. This is something that any Spiderman fan would want! If you had fun 3D Printing this model, then please be sure to Follow , Boost , and Save this model to be ready for more Designs like this!

I have a similar pattern I use for every single one of the heroes.

Now you might think this is a bit general, others may have a similar flow, and you are correct, but, this isn’t that.

So, what if we read the words?

Can you spot the differences? No, let me help you.

THERE ARE NO DIFFERENCES!

I will not go through every paragraph, I think you can guess what the rest is like. Other than listing their filaments exactly as I listed mine, duplicating the heading of course.

I am about to report this, we will see what MW think about this sort of blatant theft, copyright theft!!!

In case they change their wording once reported, I have created screenshots to show you the state of affairs.

I like how they even copied the “description” header so it’s on their page twice.

Yeah, a massive and obvious clue there.

Looks like the model is taken down now.

Yeah, I spotted that a couple of minutes after I replied to your comment and added the update at the top for new people who read the post.

They were quick to remove it.

Bah thieves are getting lazier by the day, it boils down to spamming the feed with enough bulk and spread that they can get away with it. Reporting them because either the original owner doesn’t know or cbf gets you only so far, there are times MW nail each report and then other times they skip them altogether.

Currently arguing with them about an unrelated manner and they’re using “we’ll pass this on to [insert official name] team” and “relayed your feedback” etc to pacify me, it’s borderline patronising. I’ve been flagged and/or shadowbanned from reporting some repeat offenders I think.

UPDATE

The copyright thief has reached out to me via MW DM’s.

If it is you then please answer so I could fix my mistake

It appears he doesn’t realise that stealing the hard work of others is a problem.

I have spent too much time on him to play those games. If he hasn’t learnt by now, then there is nothing I can say which will correct his future endeavours.

I need you to write my descriptions. How about .0001 pt for every one? It’s fair, for you…a little…ok well for me. :grinning:

Firstly, I would use a spelling checker.

It took a long time to get my written ‘voice’. I upload so many models, writing content and the artwork can take as much time as the design process. I make MANY prototypes of the more complicated models, so, you can see how long things take.

I uploaded four models today, and six yesterday.

People assume it doesn’t matter, it does to me. My remaining time is precious and I do not wish to spend my last days dealing with those who devalue my work that it is free yet gladly accept its value when used on theirs.

I have lost 96 magnets inside prototypes that didn’t meet my standards that I cannot prize them back out of. So many 6x2mm magnets have gone to their death for my craft.

*PRISE ftfy… Grandma check pls :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Prize is the correct US spelling.

In your case, its a thing and not a person you’re recovering the item from. I can hear my teacher turning in her grave right now lol… Semantics. Edit to add the action was you prying the magnets out?

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/prise

I hoped you would have pointed out that I am British and my attempts to use the flawed US English excuse were dumb.

Yes, I failed in my attempt to joke with @johnfcooley at his typo by making the identical mistake myself.

I own my mistake.

I always said I would admit it when I made a mistake, it took 51 years!

You didn’t fail. I really laughed.

I don’t do that often. I have a permanent scowl.

I meant my typo meant I failed.

why is no one talking about @MalcTheOracle 's comment about his “remaining time” and “last days”? Maybe I’m just the noob and everyone else knows. Well, I am very new, so makes sense. Anyway, Malc, I’m hoping for the best for you, whatever is going on. Also, in my very humble opinion, “prise” is correct. Prize being a noun and prise being a verb. But I’ve been wrong once before.

Excuse me, I had a permanent scowl first. Expect a copyright claim, good sir.

I’m not great at addressing stuff like that. Malc’s been a good friend of mine here on the forum though, so I certainly have taken notice. I’m glad he’s here kicking it with us and hopefully having a great time. I’m no world class medical doctor though, so best I can do is try and be part of what makes these moments enjoyable and fun, despite the troubles of the world.
