A request for Bambu - The green door

Could you please consider making an upgraded door, to give the same visibility as the side panels.

It’s my only request for this awesome machine.

I don’t want to swap the door to clear as many are.

But I did notice the side windows look fine for visibility.

The front door is two layers of green material. Makes it’s much less visible.

How about a glass door with a single thinner (as per side panels) layer adhered to it.

It’s actually more important that you think, not being able to see in without using the camera or opening the door, need a solution please

Look forward to seeing what their R&D department come out with in the future.

Will add photos of side vs front visibility on a new un-used machine later.

You have a laser operating in the visible light spectrum and want a see through door to get a better view of it in action?
Might be easier to just drip acid into your eyes or to use a soldering iron to cauterise them…
The green is basically the opposite of the blue laser light - next to nothing makes it through and being acrylic also blocks the remaining invisible light that is emitted.
You NEED the right protection for a laser if you value your eye sight, especially if playing with the 40W version…

Go ahead and check what’s available in terms of protective goggles - that is the minimum required for a front panel…
And considering that it makes no difference - protective goggles or a protecting door.
I do agree though that a a removable panel or quick release door should be included if you buy this thing with a laser…
But that also makes it invalid for EU use and probably US use as well - there is minimum requirements for the laser safety and I guess that is the main consideration for Bambu - they can control what you get but not what you make out of it…

Here is a photo taken through the side and front door. New machine just un boxed. Freshly peeled glass protection.

Side, good clarity:

Front, much less visibility. Could easily be engineered to match the side views. They have used two layers of green Perspex, to get the door strength required no doubt. A glass door with a protective inner layer the same thickness as the sides would give the same visibility as the side and a stronger / higher quality door feel.

I see everything just fine knowing the importance of the safety behind it. Darwinism will always be alive and well…

We are in agreement, do not remove the green door.

Improve the visibility is the goal here. For printing and laser operations, visibility is also a safety factor.

Side windows are safe and visibility is markedly better. Apply this solution to the front door, with engineering to solve the flexibility.

I have wondered why the side windows are nice and clear while the front door is foggy. I personally don’t plan on using the laser much, if at all, so I swapped my door for the glass one. If it was clear like the side windows I probably would have left it alone. Maybe it’s foggy by design? More protection through the window we will be looking through 99% of the time.

If I ever need to do laser stuff I’ll swap the green door back on. Takes 30 seconds. The laser won’t operate if the green door isn’t on so there’s really no risk of “forgetting” to put the proper one back on.

the front door is a moving part and it’s large, so it’s made by acrylic to make it cheap and also less vulnerable to breaking. Large, laser filtering hardened glass would be much more expensive

You’re not wrong, it’s terrible for using as a 3D printer - like looking at my prints through green milk. And yes, the sides are fine. I’m swapping doors but would love a better option.

We all know there’s no safety risk, and it has multiple interlocks, but stand by for all of the wailing from the safety patrol…

I’m going to swap mine anyway, since bambu does have pretty strict interlocks to prevent a mistake from happening for laser.

Green and black is a good look…
