You have a laser operating in the visible light spectrum and want a see through door to get a better view of it in action?
Might be easier to just drip acid into your eyes or to use a soldering iron to cauterise them…
The green is basically the opposite of the blue laser light - next to nothing makes it through and being acrylic also blocks the remaining invisible light that is emitted.
You NEED the right protection for a laser if you value your eye sight, especially if playing with the 40W version…
Go ahead and check what’s available in terms of protective goggles - that is the minimum required for a front panel…
And considering that it makes no difference - protective goggles or a protecting door.
I do agree though that a a removable panel or quick release door should be included if you buy this thing with a laser…
But that also makes it invalid for EU use and probably US use as well - there is minimum requirements for the laser safety and I guess that is the main consideration for Bambu - they can control what you get but not what you make out of it…
Front, much less visibility. Could easily be engineered to match the side views. They have used two layers of green Perspex, to get the door strength required no doubt. A glass door with a protective inner layer the same thickness as the sides would give the same visibility as the side and a stronger / higher quality door feel.
I have wondered why the side windows are nice and clear while the front door is foggy. I personally don’t plan on using the laser much, if at all, so I swapped my door for the glass one. If it was clear like the side windows I probably would have left it alone. Maybe it’s foggy by design? More protection through the window we will be looking through 99% of the time.
If I ever need to do laser stuff I’ll swap the green door back on. Takes 30 seconds. The laser won’t operate if the green door isn’t on so there’s really no risk of “forgetting” to put the proper one back on.
the front door is a moving part and it’s large, so it’s made by acrylic to make it cheap and also less vulnerable to breaking. Large, laser filtering hardened glass would be much more expensive
You’re not wrong, it’s terrible for using as a 3D printer - like looking at my prints through green milk. And yes, the sides are fine. I’m swapping doors but would love a better option.
