A Suggestion to Stop Profile Spam

I keep seeing profile leeches everywhere, and it’s driving me crazy. People spend ten seconds creating a profile, and then take points away from the designer, who spent hours and hours to create the design, and then slice and print it.

One person even made a profile that would (according to my simple logic) reduce printability by increasing the overhangs. They’ve somehow got 100 downloads and like 50 prints. There’s two other profiles that only changed the bed temperature (which made prints not stick according to the somehow 5-star reviews). MY profiles always get reviews like “4-stars” with no description, or “1-star” “didnt stick to bed” This is taking points away from me, who has gone through dozens of prototypes and iterations to create it. I am the sole person who should be receiving points for MY models.

And it’s not just me either. Little Alien Visitors has plenty of leeches. People scale it up a bit. People add multicolor. They aren’t capable/willing to design stuff, so they steal other people’s points instead. I created a profile for the aliens, (two actually), and gave the points to the designer. THIS SHOULD BE REQUIRED. People should NOT get the points unless they ACTUALLY CHANGE STUFF. Designers should be able to lock down their models to prevent profile leeches.

And I know, everyone will just say “Then don’t post your designs”. Look. I’m not that concerned about the loss in points. I get mad when I see them on other models too, just because they’re stealing points from that designer. To me, it is more about the principle of it. That someone ELSE is getting those points for doing NO WORK. Sure, life isn’t fair, and I get that. But @MakerWorld has the ability to make it slightly better, and I sincerely hope that they do.
