A1 & AMS Lite issues ruined my weekend - Help!

I’m having a bad 3d printing weekend. First 3 of my Creality printers decided to puke, and now 1 of my A1s has taken up over 8 hours of my time.

I had a clog at the nozzle. I was able to clear it with a cold pull. In the process of messing with that, one of the bowden tubes came loose from the hub. Youtube helped me fix that by opening it up and resetting the metal teeth piece. This was my first error.

Now my problem is “Failure to feed filament into the extruder”. I’ve pulled back all filament and reloaded it – the AMS will grab it normally when I feed it in, so the feeder at the AMS is functional. I’ve had tons of different error codes while attempting to use the “load” filament option on the device, and while just doing a print without the using that function. Examples:

  • 1200-8006 111842 (First print after clog fix, nothing found via google)
  • 1200-8006 131004 (Load AMS Lite filament 1 position via interface)
  • 1200-8006 131005 (Filament 2 load)
  • 1200-8006 131005 (Filament 3 load)
  • 1200-8006 131024 (Filament 4 load)

In all of the above, the AMS (not the extruder) clicks and the spool holder moves a little as if the feeder is the issue

I did try printing not using the load function, with the last error entry repeating itself.

Relavent information:

  • I’ve made sure the 4 port hub is clear by disconnecting it and using a pin to pass through it. Filament passes through as well while the top piece and spring are disconnected.
  • While disconnected, and while in maintenance mode on the printer, I was able to heat the extruder up to a high temp and manually push through some filament. This indications to me the hot end/nozzle is not an issue.
  • Ive disabled the AMS, disconnected it, plugged it into the other port.
  • I’ve done a factory reset (1.05.00 Device and .00.00.07.94 AMS lite). I did the initial 20 some minute calibration routine as if I was setting it up new.
  • I turned off tangle detection.
  • After the above, and after re-feeding the filament into the AMS and it properly grabbing the filament, I got and error message of 1200-8006 131133.

This is where I am at. As I write this, I was thinking I did not have these problems with the previous firmware. I updated this printer and my other A1 to 1.05 on 7/11, but the other printer is printing just fine.

Any pointers? I’ve read thread after thread and tried essentially everything. Is there any logic in the hub? Should I replace that?

Thanks for the read and apologies for the length.

Have you tried unplugging the AMS completely, undoing at least one of the PTFE heads from the hydra, and feeding an “external spool” roll to a print? Act as if you didnt have an AMS at all. Does the print start? If so, pay attention to the extruder and if its clicking/backdriving or not.

Yes, I disconnected the hub/PTFE adapter (hydra?). It’s printing a Benchy right now.

Faulty adapter?

Edit: I popped out the adapter and cleaned it out, however there was nothing in it at all. For sport, I greased the the end (singular output side). This did nothing and resulted in the1200-8006 131133 error with the “failure to feed” error yet again.

Also, because I got frustrated, I downgraded the firmware to the only version available - 1.04. The AMS lite firmware stayed the same version (07.94)
